Arizona a potential suitor for Peterson and Murray

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport mentions the Cardinals, Colts, and Jaguars as "potential suitors" for free agent DeMarco Murray.
RapSheet also throws the Seahawks into the mix if Marshawn Lynch retires, but we don't see them as a serious threat. The Seahawks are unlikely to get anything definitive from Lynch within the next week, and Murray is going to sign within the opening 48 hours of free agency. The other three teams make plenty of sense and have also been linked to Adrian Peterson. Arizona is looking to take some work off Andre Ellington after he broke down as the workhorse in 2014. Ahmad Bradshaw is a free agent in Indy, and Trent Richardson is likely a goner. Toby Gerhart didn't cut it as the Jaguars' lead back, while Denard Robinson is more of a change-of-pace runner. Murray will likely go to the highest bidder.

I'd rather have Murray. If the Colts can woo him, they are going to be scary good next year.

I don't know why, but I wouldn't be all that stoked about Murray. I'd rather have 2 good years of Peterson.

While I think Peterson and Murray are fantastic talents, I do not get the mindset of signing them to a big contract. Ellington has a ton of potential if healthy, and he's not going to spell either of these guys for carries. We may as well trade him if we sign one of these two, otherwise he'll be benched.

There are some solid mid-tier guys that we could afford while also upgrading our offensive line and linebackers, rather than blowing it all on one guy.

I would be shocked if cards are active in the first 2-3 days of FA...

I don't see the Cards as players for Murray. Costs too much and not sure if he was just a product of Cowboys outstanding offensive line. Would rather use money for OLB/ILBs & C/OG. Get RB in draft or cheaper one in free agency.

This

I'm curious as hell how Murray would look behind our line, not near as good would be my first guess.

I would prefer a Marshawn Lynch type runner... A guy who makes his own holes, and if the offensive line does a little work, it gets even better.

It would actually be bucking the trend in the NFL of devaluing RBs. I'm far from certain we have a RB circled as our top target. Still, I would get excited over either joining the team.

I would rather spend the money on offensive linemen that can make the holes than overpaying for a RB like Murray.

You know, Michael Bidwill's first true splash in free agency, the first clear sign that he was now calling the shots, was the signing of Edgerrin James. Now, we can argue how successful it was. He did have some 1,000 yd seasons, and started in the playoffs and Super Bowl. But, I think Bidwill will remember how James got his brains beat out in so many games behind that line.

I hope we're more in the gore McFadden rice Ridley range. I just don't trust the cards and a high priced FA or second round pic.. I think gore would be perfect for us.

Makes sense to me. Less likely to get injured as well. We have a lot of needs, can't afford a very pricey contract. About 6.5M per with 16M guaranteed would be our top dollar I'd imagine that they'd offer. Any more and I'd pass.

im not big on dolling out tons of cash for a RB. Id rather make our line better and draft a guy.

I rather we not see either of them as a Cardinal. Fix the guard positions and a very good line will make a good RB a great running back.

Maybe put the dollars into Wisniewski & Iupati and grab a RB and two LBs in the draft that we can have around for years to come while building a line that can get it done.

My guess is the Cards are interested in getting a player to spell Ellington. The one name that intrigues me is Ahmad Bradshaw.

I'm out on both. Steven Jackson or Frank Gore or draft Todd Gurley are all better options IMO.

Totally agree. I'd rather fix our OL before than spend big money on a RB. I think you can find a solid RB in FA for much cheaper.
