Friday, February 27, 2009 Posted By Mike Florio 1:10 PM Steelers cornerback Bryant McFadden could be making a slight change to a time-honored phrase.

"If you can beat 'em, join 'em."

McFadden, a free agent, is visiting the Cardinals on Sunday, a league source tells PFT.

Earlier this month, the Steelers defeated the Cardinals in Super Bowl 43.

McFadden, a four-year veteran, appeared in ten games and strated eight of them in 2008. He also started all three postseason games.

He'd be a nice little signing to give our secondary a nice boost. Perhaps allow Hood to move to nickel?

GET IT DONE GRAVES!!

He'll cost more than Foxworth which means he'll be north of $7 million per season and close to 20 million guaranteed. (having trouble swallowing......yea me too)

Why do you think he will cost more then Foxworth. Foxworth has way more starting experiance. About the same I can see but more then him I just dont see it. I wouldnt have trouble swallowing 7 mill for a good starting CB. Would rather spend 7 mill on a good starting CB then a good starting LB, but thats just my prefrence.

I'd have no issue with 7 million or something like that.. It makes our secondary alot better.. upgrades the #2 CB position, and the NB..

We go from average at both positions, to above average at both IMO..

If Rolle were to ever come around we'd have a great secondary.

Also, allows us to basically just find pass rushers in the draft and front 7 guys..

I like the idea of getting one position group (DBs) totally set before the draft..

We can then get out OLBs or DEs... and use the rest of the draft for RB, TE, Oline upgrades, etc..

1)His agent

2)Super Bowl winner

Would be two reasons I could see him demanding more than Foxworth

I don't know who Foxworth's agent is but I know that McFadden is represented by Satan. He'll make sure his client gets more, plus I've always thought he was a better player.

What makes any of you think that this guy pushes Hood to Nickle Back? If signed that is?

On the Foxworth deal:

Baltimore continues to be one of the busiest teams on the first day of free agency. The Ravens signed cornerback Domonique Foxworth to a four-year, $28 million deal that includes $16.5 million guaranteed.

Drew does not get his players paid more so then what the league will pay them. In fact overall Drew gets his players paid less overall because they are usually greatly back loaded contracts. People only think Drew makes his players get paid more then they are worth because of a select few guys who like to mouth off to the media, and because Drew himself is in the media. Drew does not get his players paid more then other agents. Its just a fact.

Also susprisingly Drew and Graves probably have the best relationship in the NFL and besides Dockett and Boldin they have worked really well with each other. You notice how odd it is that Drew isnt the one bad mouthing the team that its actually the players. I find this odd because it is usually Drew who is doing the bad mouthing but Drew knows how well he works with Graves and wont destroy that. He is very shrewd but he is also very smart.

McFadden will be gone by Monday at the latest and it won't be the Cards. We aren't spending big $$$ on anyone in free agency. We are going to add depth and 2nd tier guys just like last season.

Didnt say he would get more than Foxworth, just that he will likely be looking to get more. And I think one of these desperate teams with some money to toss around will give it to him.

Straight up quote from Wiz himself, "Whisenhunt didn’t rule out chasing a front-line free agent “if we go after a player we feel can really help our football team.”

Way different tune then last years we want depth fest.

Who knows if that is accurate, the rumor earlier in the morning was that he was close to signing with the Lions, so the guy may just be working off that information.

McFadden isn't that guy.

I agree with what you're saying for the most part. I think his main goal is to make it look bigger. I'd bet that McFadden's overall salary numbers are higher than Fox.

I should also clarify that I'm not against signing McFadden. I'd love to have him in this secondary and I think he'd be a big upgrade. A top three of DRC, Hood and Mac would be a solid trio. With as fast as the cap is rising each year and the possibility of no cap, Mac will probably be underpaid in three years or so anyways.

How would you guys rate McFadden out of 10, with 10 being the highest.
