If you're still driving drunk after getting a previous DUI you have serious issues. And if you think this was the first time he's made this "mistake"... you know... driving a massive machine that can easily KILL PEOPLE... I've got some beachfront property in Yuma to sell you. Just because THIS was only the second time he got arrested, doesn't mean he hasn't made this mistake before. It just means he didn't get CAUGHT.

I agree, but then part of me says 22 years is a long time. There has also been a massive change in DUI laws and culture, but he should be WELL aware of that for the obvious reasons.

It all goes back to the stupid things we do when we drink heavily. The only solution honestly is to not drink heavily and put yourself in the position to make these choices.

Also, I do have an issue with him lying about who he was. Honestly gets you a loooooong way with most police officers, even DUI patrol.

Shane can correct me if I am wrong here, but I do believe officers ask if someone has a pre-existing injury that prevents them from doing the tests. What would anyone say no?
Right and isn't the refusal of a field test an automatic arrest? Again, he may have been trying to buy himself some time to hopefully lower his BAC. @Shane, we need answers.

I'm interested in this too. I mean, if he said, "Yeah, I'm GM of the Cardinals." that might work against him or in his favor. They might go easy on him or go hard on him, but it's probably best to let the lawyer deal with that. As GM, he wears many hats. I really don't think that'll be held against him.

Being in the public eye he could have been coached to keep his position on the down low if something like this happened.
Why did he have to say anything in regards to the cardinals? If I’m pulled over I’m pretty sure I’m not saying I’m Joe Schmoe, I am a Vice President of xxx Corp.

A DUI from 1996 wouldn't be considered anyways - only if one in the last 7 years qualifies for a second offense
It might not count in court, but it certainly does in perception. If true, this is a bad look getting awful.

because people are only allowed to make the same mistake once every 23 years. not 22. burn the witch!
Because it’s not really a “mistake” the second time. You know the old saying, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.

To do just enough to be compliant w/o drawing too much attention to himself at the time of the incident. Or, he could have been completely bumbling drunk. We don't know yet.

I really don't get how saying who you work for, especially a SUPER high profile job like that, helps with compliance. Doesn't it bring even more attention to him by saying he works for the Cardinals? I mean... if you were stopped for a DUI, would you just blurt out who you worked for? Aren't those people the last people you'd want to know you got busted drinking and driving? If I were to be working on a show and was dumb enough to drink and drive and get busted, I sure as hell wouldn't say I write for NCIS: New Orleans or my new show Pissed! I'd want that hidden for as long as possible.

That's my point. If he said, "I'm GM of the Cards." he's likely to draw more attention. Who really cares about the director of security? He's still saying who his employer is w/o lying or not saying anything and drawing more attention to him.

Again, I think he might have been doing just enough to give himself some wiggle room.

Again, this is why I don't take chances. If I get busted for DWI, I'm pretty much out of a job, as I should be being a part of the LEO community. I know lots of guys and gals I work with who get it in frequently and they're a ticking time bomb of getting caught. I'm no prude and even though I drink infrequently, I surely don't drink if I'm the one driving. When I went to Disney last year and didn't have to drive anywhere so I had my share(Lapu-Lapu drink at Ohana is highly recommended) but when the wife and I go out to dinner, I don't even have so much as a glass of wine. In short, don't put yourself in that position.

Radio said he refused field test because of bad knees.
I know my situation is not the same but I was pulled over by a DUI unit patrolman. He said my car moved to the right towards the bike lane. I said I was changing the radio station. I failed the field sobriety test. I was wearing sandals, I was standing on a rocky unlevel area off of the pavement and I have a torn MCL that never healed correctly. I agreed to do the test but I failed miserably. He was ready to haul me in. I explained the circumstances and he asked whether I would do the "blow" test. I did and I passed with flying colors. Just saying it is not all black and white.

Ok, I'm curious about this... Is the reason most people would be fired is because of the jail time? If one has to spend X number of days in jail they obviously can't do their job. Depending on their position this could have quite an impact on the business.

There's other types of crimes that can be committed with a result of a fine and/or community service that don't result in a loss of job. So what is it about a DUI specifically that requires or results termination?

I get speeding or driving tickets with CDL since those can have a direct impact on your job function, but i've always been curious with DUIs

why say anything period about the Cards? Why saying anything about his employer at all? He specifically brings attention to himself by naming the Cards in the first place. I guess I'm wondering how are they germane to the situation at all?

Claiming to be head of security makes this way, way worse. As in it might get him fired worse.

Claiming to be head of security has no impact on the situation one way or the other.

You're in the middle of Phoenix and the Cardinals are a popular sports team. If you're in his position, you do anything to maybe get the benefit of the doubt. I have a family member who is a federal agent who has "accidentally" fumbled out his badge when being pulled over for speeding, I've gotten out of a speeding ticket explaining that I have an urgent bathroom situation. There's a bit of a reason to do it. I used to tell my ex in college that the only guy she was allowed to cheat on me with was Matt Leinart or Larry Fitzgerald. Too much of a fan.

Sadly, all of the details coming out of this situation are pretty bad so far. I don't want Keim fired, because I'm the kind of person who is of the mindset that you shouldn't get fired for things that don't relate to your job, unless it's murder or grand larceny or something. But he needs to see some major discipline.

And most of all, I hope the organization is prepared with ways to get the man help, instead of just hanging him out there to dry.

Yeah, I have a friend at the DPS crime lab who has used his biz card to get out of a speed ticket. The professional courtesy thing.

I think we should blame BA for this having all those drinking parties out of the trunk of his car.

My father used to head one of the AZ DPS crime labs. Having his card in my wallet has come in handy on more than a couple of occasions.

Exactly. Where's the outrage over speeding? Excess speed is the leading cause of automobile deaths and people consciously speed everyday. I'm sure all the people clamoring for Keim's job have never gone above the speed limit or been cited for speeding.

SK didn't lie, just presented alternate facts. As in,"Players' Playbooks are our most highly valued asset", and being GM, I'm in charge of their security. :)
