22. Arizona (11-7, lost a wild-card game to the Rams)

Something doesn’t feel right about the 2022 Cards. Part of it’s the pointed dissatisfaction of quarterback Kyler Murray and his agent over a new contract. Part is the six-game suspension of the best player on the offense, DeAndre Hopkins, to start the season. (That means Hopkins will miss at least 13 games over 2021 and ’22.) Hollywood Brown arrived in trades to buttress the receiving corps, but Christian Kirk left in free agency, as did the most dangerous player on defense—pass-rusher Chandler Jones. It’s an odd vibe around the team, and the attitude in negotiations with Murray this summer will tell a lot about the chemistry of the locker room coming training camp.

Some of the comments on this board are such a joke when it comes to Murray. Take it from someone who’s been a round a long, long time as A Cardinal fan, he’s the greatest young QB in Cardinal history. There were many reasons why we struggled down the stretch last year. About 10% can be attributed to Murray. Those on this board have already been wrong in their criticism, and they will continue to be wrong.

He's got issues but the OTAs whining is too much. Ain't nothing happening in voluntary workouts that he's needed for.

I disagree on the percentage of fault on Murray, but agree on the rest.

You don't let your best young QB in franchise history get to a contract year.

I'll even disagree on 66%.

Somewhere between 10%-66% of the blame falls on Murray. He's a great young player whose best football is ahead of him and if the Cardinals aren't careful, they will end up watching Murray's best football with another franchise.
the thing is, if his attitude towards work doesnt change,...we may be seeing his best football already.
his physical skills are off the hook, but he may have peaked between the ears already.

thats the worry

Why would you assume this though? QBs continue to improve all the way to their mid 30s.

Game reps alone help.

quarterbacks,...players,...only continue to improve if they work at it....and they only work at it if they feel they need to.

a guy who gives interviews claiming to have some supernatural omniscience to see what happens before it actually happens?? That guy usually doesnt feel the need to work up a sweat to get better.

Not if they don't get their head in the game, they don't. Game reps only carry you so far. QBs improve into their mid-30s, yes, but only if they really apply themselves. We all on this board know that Kyler needs to mature in his approach to the game or he will never reach the heights he has the potential to reach. If he doesn't consciously change his approach, Kirk Cousins is his ceiling. If he DOES...well, we don't know what the ceiling is, then.
