Mixed bag.
Larry also benefitted from a lot of lousy quarterbacks who knew throwing to him was their best chance to raise their completion percentage....and he benefitted from often being the only option... Boldin and Breaston were a luxury.
I’d be surprised if any benefit in that mixed bag comes anywhere close to the detriment.

Any reason why Brian Burns would be at State Farm today? Posted it on his Instagram story… that would be awesome

Would be awesome as long as it doesn’t include trading Kyler, Carolina is QB hungry

All you have to just look at the playoff game. Just about EVERY player came out the gate flat, not just our favorite whipping boy Kyler.

In case some might have forgotten.

Kliff record | Start | Finish - Final
2013 | 7-0 | 1-5 | 8-5
2014 | 2-0 | 2-8 | 4-8
2015 | 5-2 | 2-4 | 7-6
2016 | 3-1 | 2-6 | 5-7
2017 | 4-1 | 2-6 | 6-7
2018 | 5-2 | 0-5 | 5-7
2019 | 3-3-1 | 2-7 | 5-10-1
2020 | 6-3 | 2-5 | 8-8
2021 | 7-0 | 4-7 | 11-8
It gets overlooked.

However, Kliff treated the Seahawks game like a preseason game, and then telling Aaron Donald and the Rams "Kyler will have his best game ever"...w/o Deandre Hopkins mind you was some terrible judgment late.

He lead us into a buzzsaw.

The HC won two of three games with Colt McCoy at QB vs Seattle and San Francisco and without Deandre Hopkins. If he was a bad coach he would not have been able to do that.
Matt Nagy got to two playoffs with Mitch Trubisky. I wouldnt say he's a bad coach either, but not being bad shouldn't be the bar for a HC either.

Matt Rhule got his last win against Kliff. Dominated him and gave the blueprint to Kliff's bestie McVay on how to defend us w/o Hopkins.

Kliff is far from a bad coach. However, he's failed upward enough to learn on the job, unlike other coaches.

With as much discussion on whether Kyler is worth the contract. Im not sure too many HC's get a 5 year deal after that playoff abomination. It'd be one thing if Kyler was just awful, but the team looked woefully prepared. Thats a first "playoff" setting game for him so at least got some experience. Unless losing to John Wolford's Rams counts for 2020.

However, he's gifted the chance to learn. So lets hope he keeps learning to get better.

I do think he could be a very good coach within 3 years. He just got his start about 2 or 3 years sooner than he was ready.

I know the haters/darkside hate the facts around this subject as I’ve responded and posted to Colts games multiple times since - but the 49ers were in complete disarray at 3-4 going into our game, not knowing if Kyler was playing. The Seahawks were a hot mess w RW3s 2nd game back from injury (his first 3 games back 0-3 w the team scoring a grand total of 28 pts - 9.3ppg, heck I hope we could beat that w a back-up!). Colt got lucky catching 2 teams at probably their worse of the season. He did his job as a backup and true colors showed vs a terrible Carolina team.

The funny thing about watching film is that you can see a lot of QBs miss open guys down the field.

However, when the #s point toward Kyler being one of the best and most aggressive downfield passers that seems to get forgotten.

I'd argue yea in 2020 Kyler's vision seemed a bit impaired in terms of attacking downfield. However, I wouldn't say it was in 2021.

The only two games I'd say he didn't see the field well (in terms of a full game) were the playoff game and the Lions game.

So, the most important game of the season and a game he had no business losing that would have helped us a lot late in the season? Check.

Hicks is off the board.

Still waiting for that coveted second round of free agency where Keim was going to fill these holes that I heard so much about.

This kind of talk is just crazy. The only Cards QB that ever showed total mastery of concepts and routes was Warner. Kurt was a total grinder, and his film study made him who he was.

If Kyler actually prepped like nearly all the top QB's, perhaps he'd show this elevated sense of awareness. In the meantime, it's dangerous nonsense that gives him an excuse not the prepare in the proper way.

That's a lot of wedge for a guy who missed 20 of the last 49 games.

What's the deal with new uni's? Is there any team in any sport stick rocking 17 year old jerseys?

I just don't understand the thought process behind it. New uni's every 5 years or so means new shirt sales and more money.

The only reason I can think is that Bidwill Sr loved them and Mike has some kind of sentimental attachment.

Falcons launching new uni's tomorrow and their current ones are only 2 years old.

I think the Panthers haven't gone over a huge remodel, if one at all.

Honestly, it's not really that hard to look this stuff up if you have a real curiosity.

FWIW, I don't love the current uniforms, either. It's probably more likely that new uniforms look worse than the current ones, though.

I'd probably go simpler but adjust the colors a bit. Go the routes the Rams did without the stupid looking plastic numbers.
