Arizona Cardinals sport new look in 1st full-speed practice
LinkThere were plenty of new things displayed on Tuesday at the Cardinals’ first full speed practice of the off-season.
From the head coach (Bruce Arians), to the General Manager (Steve Keim), to the starting quarterback (Carson Palmer) to the single-man blocking sleds (World Sporting Goods).
All that was missing from the first practice of veterans voluntary minicamp was the smell of fresh paint.
“From the way we huddle up to the way we call the snap count, it’s new for a lot of guys,” said Palmer, acquired in a trade with the Raiders on April 2. “Right now, there is a lot of teaching.”
This is the second week in which coaches have been able to work with players on the field, but Tuesday was the first regular practice, albeit in shorts and helmets.
Arians and his staff voiced their displeasure when moved to do so, but the coach said the team made fewer mistakes than he expected.
“Really pleased with the first day,” Arians said. “I was pleasantly surprised on the amount of mistakes we cut down, even from our walk through. We had a couple of turnovers, quarterback-center snap exchange problems. We preach hard that we’re not going to beat ourselves.”
