Nice result. I hope they know to pick up the offense later in games. Maybe sign Serrano from Major League? :D

Let's get a 4-game sweep of the Padres. LA is at Seattle right now, and got lucky winning that one--another bullpen choke job. Put some space between them. Rockies are Atlanta now. That's no cakewalk either.

I see that Pollock is not in the starting lineup again (and against a lefty). Is there something going on with his health that we're not being told? Or could it be simply that Jay is hot right now and Pollock is not?

And that with Peralta taking Pollock's place as a middle of the lineup hitter (and Goldy, Souza and even Escobar, Marte and Avila being solid), we won't miss Pollock as much? Or maybe Torey just feels that Jay will provide steadier hitting.

It is a good thing we have Jay to step in (and as a prototype leadoff hitter). It is interesting that he's not playing CF tonight, though. The lineup shows him in LF and Peralta in CF. 'Interesting.

He's in the line up tonight. Peralta's the one sitting (which is stupid, IMHO - Peralta is the best hitter in the league since the all-star break, you don't sit him

And now I see that my My Yahoo page (scoreboard of my hometown teams) shows Pollock, not Peralta in CF as they did earlier.

With a lefty starting, it might be understandable that Peralta is not, although he's been hitting them pretty well.

It is strange that he remains at the hotel, but arriving at game time. I wonder if Steve and BB will tell us why.

I guess it could be anything. Ptomaine, virus, blue bal.. never mind. :)

Jody just said in the pre-game show that Torey is giving The Freight Train "a break .......... against the lefty".

But he's not taking part in pre-game batting practice? :doi:

Goldy with a 2-out 2-run HR pulled to left-center in the 1st. 2-0 D'backs.

Soooo, are we going to get more than two hits the rest of the way? :)

Robbie starts off badly again. 24 pitches to the first three hitters. Two walks and a groundout.

As BB is saying, he is just not showing confidence on the mound. At the season began, the question was would Robbie supplant Grienke as our ace.

Another groundout and a run scores. 2-1 D-backs as we go the the second inning.

Robbie Ray is a liability in the rotation.

Mathis comes through with runners on 2nd and 3rd with a soft single and a run scores. Runners on 1st and 3rd, Ray up and no outs.

Hey, it's the second inning and we scored.

Robbie with a perfect bunt to the left side and another run scores. Our 4th.

With Myers trying to adjust at 3B, Jay bunted right to him but foul.

Another bunt now -- runners on 2B and 3B with one out.

National League strategy. Way to go, Torey.

And Pollock strikes out to end the inning.

Ahmed tossed after questioning a 3rd strike call on the inside corner. Marte with an intentional walk to load the bases and Mathis hits into a DP.

As in the 1st, Robbie walked the first two batters in the 3rd. Then a shot off his leg and it's 4-2 with runners on 1st and 2nd with no one out.
