BB mentioned at the start of the game that the freezing weather could affect the Pitchers. Sure enough, both Pitchers got off to a bad start in the 1st inning.

And now, Greinke gets tagged for a 3-run HR.

Goldy is really sucking it up. He seems to be not into the game. Stands there and watches all 3 strikes go by for the game. Where is his head this year? His slump is bad so far.

Actually, it is a carryover from the latter part of last season. Compounded by the two legitimate power hitters behind him out injured.

I've posted in the past that I hope Goldy has had his eyes checked. I am not saying that facetiously. Eye-hand coordination is an important part of the the precision of using a round bat to place a round ball where you want to. It is not as easy as it looks on TV.

I've mentioned a player on the ol' Brooklyn Dodgers named Carl Furillo who hit in the .290's every season throughout his career, then hit .247 while still in his prime.

The doctors discovered dust particles in his eyes, cleaned them up and he won the batting title with an average of .344 the following season. Ironically, the .247 and .344 averaged .295.

I even sent a note to that effect to various members of the D-backs front office last year, but received no acknowledgement.

Obviously, something is wrong with Goldy's performance. Even when he had Martinez behind him during the latter part of last season. It is certainly not Goldy's attitude that is in question. I commend him for not swinging at pitches that do not appear to be strikes, but I wonder if he needs to try a new approach.

I have noticed that Goldy has been swinging at a lot more first pitches than in the past. That doesn't seem to be helping.

When our two power guys come back and are in game condition, we'll see what happens. If Goldy is still in a funk, management and he need to address it.

I wonder if he hears, as we've heard, that the D-backs might not be willing to give him a big contract at this stage of his career. Of course he's heard. Goldy is such an introspective guy, it could be having an effect.

I'm sorry, I love goldy but he needs to sit out a game. 2 strikeouts this game. This is getting ridiculous.

Crazy that Greinke is the highest paid pitcher in baseball but he might be the 4th best pitcher on the team.
