When I checked today ESPN and CBS both have them as "First Four Out". So, right around where Hurley's teams have pretty much always been.
Yea...but we're just in the early days of Conference play and I just don't see this team good enough to do anything in Conference play that would move us beyond "First Four Out." In fact, I would be very surprised if, within the next 2-3 weeks, were still in that position...

And a third a straight loss...

Next three are @ Cincinnati, @ WVU and home against Iowa St. This does not look good.

Yup, this is starting to look an awful lot like a typical Bobby Hurley ASU team. Great start in out of conference, getting our hopes up for a good season... followed by complete collapse once the conference schedule starts. Every freaking year.

On the plus side, I'm sure he'll have another great recruiting year next year to replace all the guys who bail off this team.

This is another Hurley team without depth. He seems to lose one or 2 guys to injury on a 9 deep roster almost every year and you get exhausted players at the end of games. This team's core isn't bad but you can't win consistently with 7 players.

Hurley manages to brings in a new hyped group of players nearly every year (two five star guys this year, just for example). That's pretty much what ends up saving his job after yet another flop season.

Unfortunately, the big names he recruits always ultimately seem to underachieve, turn into disgruntled problems, and/or are out the door within a year or two... just to be replaced by another new set of unfulfilled "promising recruits."

I agree but every time I feel like screaming for his head I remember Rob Evans and think, gee, maybe Hurley's not so bad. As things are right now I'd stick with Bobby even though the annual disappointments are almost scheduled in. Maybe if football continues to raise ASU's national profile we can think about enticing an up and coming coach to take his place but until then I think we'd be settling for the next Rob Evans or a basketball version of Herm Edwards. And Hurley is a clear upgrade to either of those two.

Hopefully, additional NIL money will boost the basketball program going forward. It's a long shot, but I'm opting for stability at the moment.

The baseball program is another matter. It needs to produce now.
