Dallas has got to be having the worst off season in the league... other than the Lakers of course.

I doubt I am alone here in thinking this, but for even money I'd rather have OJ Mayo than Ellis, and I am not a Mayo fan.

I'd rather have Ellis. It would be an understatement for me to say I don't like Mayo but I don't like Mayo and more importantly I don't trust Mayo. I'm not a huge Ellis fan and perhaps it's just my ignorance of him that makes me prefer Mayo but unless I hear tales about him being a bad teammate I'll still lean his way. Mayo has worlds of talent but he's on to another team and I'd wager it won't be anywhere near his last stop.

I totally agree on your critique of Mayo. Watching him play you get the sense his teammates dont like him much. I certainly dont think he is a go-to player. But he can spread the floor, he plays defense... Ellis seems to be nothing but a stat padder on bad teams. He turns the ball over a lot, he is an awful three point shooter that still takes a ton of them and he is an abysmal defender.

I sure as hell would not want either for 8 mil a year, but I'd rather roll the dice on the guy who has some useable skills.

Its pretty ironic that they're swapping teams and signing very similar contracts. Dallas had their fill of Mayo, Bucks sick of Ellis... both teams hoping the grass is greener on the other side.

Dallas is the perfect example of teams saving up cap space and then end up doing nothing with it.

So Timofey Mozgov gets 3 years, 14 million. He is a 27 year old who in 3 years has yet to average better than 5 and 4, last year he posted 2.6 points and rebounds a night. JJ Hickson is 24 and coming off a season where he averaged a double double, he got 3 years 15 mil.

The NBA is a confusing, and frequently stupid, league.

The problem with Monta is he went all Sprewell on his game. Sprewell came in with a defensive rep, but when his offense got better, he stopped caring about D. Monta came in with a chip on his shoulder, 2nd rounder, and he was a very good young defender. As his offense started to blossom, he just quit playing D.

Dead right on mayo, but then he's been that way his whole life. Remember this is a kid who while preparing for his one and only college season sucker punched his teammate and broke his jaw to get revenge for an incident the teammate had with his buddy Bill Walker in HS. He waited 2 years, got to USC, and then broke Daniel Hackett's jaw, and then the whole team and coaching staff had to cover for him because he was the star player.

man...what has Joe Dumars done to the Pistons? did he just get incredibly lucky putting together that team that went to 2 finals and five straight conference finals because he's just made disasterous decisions ever since.

I mean...you'd think he'd learn his lesson from the Villanueva/Gordon off-season splurge years ago, but the second the Pistons have cap room, what does he do? he goes out and pretty much has the exact same off-season getting slightly richer versions of the same guys with Josh Smith/Brandon Jennings.

I'm just happy we've lost another competitor in the Wiggins sweepstakes!

I am glad to see someone else say it because I thought I was thinking that just because I hate the Pistons.

Yeah, what a mess the Pistons are making. You've got Monroe and Drummund already on your roster, two of the better up and coming big men in the league and you go and throw your cap at Josh Smith?!

Now they trade for Jennings, a sneaky bad player. Puts up stats but most nights he does more harm than good.
