Wow, the Eastern Conference sure looks like it's going to be a doozy. Glad to see Atlanta, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh doing so well. And poor Derian Hatcher, stuck on the hapless Flyers. Hah.

I'd love to see Buffalo take home the cup in 2007. The ex-Yotes on the team (Briere and Numminen) certainly deserve one.

I watched the Penguins/Flyers game last night and was very impressed. Just last year, this matchup would usually be dominated by the Flyers. This year, it's just the opposite.

I am really impressed with Malkin. He's huge out there. I know it's early, but I'm wondering if Crosby/Malkin will be the next Lemieux/Jagr.

That was a good article, imo. I love how teams that draft well can dramatically improve themselves. Granted, these guys were pretty much no-brainers, but at least the Pens didn't blow it...like other teams I know. :)

I really enjoy watching the HDNet Games of the Week.

My partial season ticket package to the Coyotes is not working out well...I am jinxing them.

Evgeni Malkin does it again! He is the first player in the modern era of the NHL to start their career with a goal in each of their first six games.

Buffalo is just unreal - down 4-1 in the 3rd to the Bruins and they come back to win it in a shootout.

File it under Things You’ll Never See Again: Brian Rolston’s penalty-shot, short-handed, slapshot goal against the Canucks (click HERE to take a look). Even weirder – coach Jacques Lemaire says he woke up in the middle of the night a couple weeks ago, dreaming about Rolston doing just such a thing. Any lottery suggestions from here on in would be much appreciated, Jacquestradamus.

A penalty shot goal off of a slap shot? I don't think I have ever seen that work before.

I am in Washington D.C. this week and I had a chance to go to the Senators/Capitals game last night. Saw Ovechkin score two goals.

I saw him last January in Glendale, but I forgot how this kid can both fly and hit people. He was incredible . . . as was ex-Coyote Brent Johnson who relieved Kozlov in goal and shut out the Senators after the change.

Speaking of Kozlov (although I'm sure you meant Kolzig), Slava Kozlov got the hatty last night as Atlanta came back to down the Senators in Atlanta.

I knew Atlanta was going to make the playoffs this year, but whoa, I didn't expect them to get off to this good of a start. Hopefully Carolina and Tampa Bay can regroup and make the Southeast Division a real fun race to watch (I like all three of those teams).

And I can only laugh at Philadelphia.

Yeah, I meant Kolzig the goaltender, not Kozlov the goal scorer. :)

good win by the sharks last night - kind of crazy seeing them have top 5 points in the league, but sitting 3rd in the division

this saturdays game kind of snuck up on me - not sure if i'm going yet or not - have a concert tonight and it could be out of my budget - but a $25 seat may not break me

I got to go to the Ducks/Flames game on Friday. It was kind of cool to see the Ducks' first loss and go to a game in Calgary. It's a great atmosphere there...Pronger was booed mercilessly. LOL.

BTW, the first two goals of the game were scored by ex-Coyotes.

Blue Jackets fire their head coach, Gallant. He's the 2nd guy canned this year (after Hitchcock and the Flyers).

The Blue Jackets are the 3rd worse team in the league:

1. Philadelphia, 8 pts.
2. Phoenix, 8 pts.
3. Columbus, 11 pts.

Teppo Numminen makes history tonight, as he is now the all-time leader in regular season games by a European, surpassing Jarri Kurri. He also scored his 600th point in the same game (followed by #601 and 602). The Repo Man has always been one of the truly underrated players in the league, and to see him still playing at a top level even with his heart condition is awesome.

Went to the Capitals/Bruins game tonight in D.C. (stuck here on business). A good game that went into overtime with the Bruins winning in the shootout.

What stood out was the sheer height of Chara. Most of the people in the crowd screamed "freak" at him and "go back to the circus". I thought it was funny, but this guy looks like an NBA player on ice skates. The guy is 6' 9".

Philadelphia on the rebound now as well. The Flyers beat the Ducks 7-4 Wednesday and then the Kings last night 4-3. Former Coyote Jeff Sanderson has notched 6 goals this season.

The Devils came out West and lost all four games to Phoenix, Anaheim, San Jose, and Los Angeles.

I had a chance to go to the Capital/Penguins game last night and I have to say it was probably the best hockey game I've seen in person.

After the Capitals and Oveckin dominated the first half of the game, the Penguins stormed back. Crosby looked great in the second half of the game, after virtually losing all the faceoffs in the first half.

Nice shootout at the end.

I wish I had seen that game, but I only caught the highlights. It looked like a great game. I loved Malkin's shootout goal. Wow.
