Artest is lucky he gets to come back next season. What if he would have killed that fan? Would he have gotten a bigger suspension. Maybe next time.

As bad as it soudns, most ikely.

Stern said Oneal would have gotton a larger suspension if someone hadnt kept him from getting into the stands.

I think George has a good point. It's important to send a message to the players, certainly, but how about to the fans? No matter what happens, they do not belong on the court.

Even if O'Neal's suspension of 25 games is deserved -- and I think it's too high -- Jackson should have gotten considerably more. Leaving the court makes it a lot worse, in my opinion. Now the scenario George alludes to, in which a player can storm the court in the hopes of picking a fight with an opposing team's player, looks realistic.

I wonder what www. purplepalace.com thinks of this

I think it is a joke that Artest got the most severe suspension.

Ben Wallace should have gotten way more.

In the Suns-Clips game Simmons fouled Amare harder than what Artest did and the Suns were up 10 and nothing happened out of that of course.

No way. Artest got what he deserved. I'm hoping he gets sued and ends up in prison...with his sentence beginning the day his suspension ends.

This is really too bad for the NBA. I was just starting to get excited about the Suns again...and now I remember what turned me off from this league in the first place.

Good thing Artest has that second career to fall back on.

I think they all got what they deserve. You can't bite the hand that feeds you even if that hand is a fat beer guzzling hilbilly in a Pistons shirt.

If I got paid a million dollars a year to play basketball it'd take a lot more than a box of popcorn for me to throw it all away. And my teammates would have to be near death before I'd run into the stands to save their stupid, insane, angry a$$.

I dought this will be a problem again.

Sux huh. Crawling back from your failed attempt.

Dude, you need some help. Many people post on multiple boards. We never claimed we were going to explode and have thousands of members. It was an alternative, nothing more, definitely not a replacement. Many of us have moved on--I guess some people sadly just can't forget it.

wow now a personal insult followed by a cussword.

And you weren't insulting Chap? And if my "curse word" was deemed obscene by the owners of the board, I would assume it would get blurred out like most 4 letter words.

I don't post as often as many of you do but I find time to read almost every post on this board.

I'm glad Chaplin's back. I enjoy reading diverse opinions especially when they're somewhat inteligent.

Forget it. This is a thread about the suspensions, not about Gee's childish hatred.

Good call on the suspensions.

Some sports would call for life bands on what Artest did. He's lucky IMO. So too that of Jackson and O'neal, i think what they did was just as bad as Artest... especially Jackson.

Hopefully all the fans that were involved get banned from attending the NBA for the season too.

The Palace fans as a whole need to be punished for their role too.

Then leave. We won't shed any tears.

Back to the convo-

Eric, I think Oneal got a fair deal. That haymaker/slide tackle on the guy on the court was just too much. Just because he is on your fantasy team, dont be biased :p

I do agree that Jackson should have gotton more. I really don't think we have to worry about what George said happening, but I do want some big ramifications for the fans.

I was thinking their pictures should be put up in the security office and they should all get banned from the Palace for life.

If we're gonna send messages we ought to be sending them to the fans as well.

The price of admission buys you the right to watch the game and cheer as you see fit, nothing more.

Did anyone ever catch how many security personnel exactly that they had in the arena? How in the world were those idiot fans able to get on the court?

Stern said he was still getting reports. The general belief is that it was a standard amount of security, but it wasn't employed well.

Security weren't quick enough... maybe there just wasn't enough.

I agree with you devilalum the fans have gotta pay for their behaviour...

And think... the Bobcats are currently beating the Pistons... in Detriot. The roof might blow off if they lose. :hulk:
