Yes he is. But the way he played tonight I don't see the Patsies letting him hit the FA market. If we could sign Samuels and Briggs I'll be happy. :bhiich:

Asante will most certainly hit the market. He has turned down many offers from the pats he wants to see what the market has to offer first.

Hopefully we can sign this guy, and without spending all of cap money. I think he'd be a good addition to our team, especially considering how badly our secondary did. (Though I am unsure whether the low quality of our secondary was due to scheme and/or coaching, or the players. Even so, I want us to sign this guy.)

Samuel is reportedly upset with the Patriots offers...He thinks he's worth way more than they do.

I would be happy to sign him, re-sign BIG and if we have enough left sign Briggs and we'll be set for a Superbowl run next year!!!!! Oh, and bring in Grimm and a couple of the other Pitt assistants, too!!!!!!!!:raccoon:

You know Samuel had dollar signs in his eyes last night when he picked off Manning and ran the rock in for that touchdown

Samual will command Big money which means that the Patriots will not keep him. He is going to be the top FA target of many teams this offseason.

I would love to have him on our team!

the pats will not pay for them as we all know they feel they can just use someone else rather than overpay anyone.

Witht hat being said I would throw the book at him, he is as close to champ bailey as it gets.

Someone's going to be the highest paid corner in the league after he hits the open market.

Doesn't he have a tatoo that says something along the lines of, "Get Paid."

This is when a team has really arrived and believes in their system. I wonder if the Cardinals can ever reach this level.

I believe that the thought of Briggs AND Samuels both being signed is rediculous. They are both the top free agents at their positions in a market that money is everywhere. There is no way that we would have the money to sign both of these guys. It is hard to say who woldbe the better signing but if I had to venture which one I might be inclinde to lean towards Briggs. Our conference is stacked with big runnig backs and the need to stop the run is bigger tha ever. By signing Briggs and drafting Jamaal Anderson we would have upgraded our front 7 to the level that it needs to be. Samuels is good, but I think that corners are becoming very overrated with the recent changes in rules. I believe that your ability to rush the passer is now what elevates the play of your secondary over the actual ability of the cornerbacks. If the name isn't Champ Bailey, why pay top dollar? Chris McAllister is considered one of the better corners in the league and he makes plays because the Ravens pressure the QB. Philly is the same way as well as the Bears. A perfect example is Antonio Winfield for the Vikings. He is a very good corner but because the vikings defensive front could not get a pass rush he became exposed to the rules of the NFL.

I'm impressed with Assante, but for those who constantly complain abour CB's playing off, Samuel gives 10 yard cushions and then makes plays on his quickness back to the play.

With a new coach we might have a chance at getting some FA's but they won't be big names IMO.

The amount of cap space out there is just astonishing, there's no way to even overbid for a guy, any truly decent player "see Big" just hit the lottery.

CB's are going to cost a king's ransom as will LT's so my advice is to avoid them if possible and draft those.

I don't honestly know who we can get with the cap room out there, it's going to be really tough.

I think Samuels would've been MORE likely to be a free agent had the Pats gone all the way this year. Now, two straight years of not making it, the last one being a 32-pt. meltdown in the 2nd half, that's going to shake their confidence in the system. Instead, they're going to see a hole that will be hard to fill if Samuels leaves. JMO, he gets tagged.

Well, the system the Pat's used yesterday gave up 455 yards....

I'm not refering to the Pat's last game. I'm referring to how they just reload while the Cardinals are still struggling to invent the wheel (just after they learned to walk upright and discovered fire). I just wish they could have gotten the wheel to us faster. :)

OK lets remember that this isn't a great free agent on just any team, this is a great free agent on a team who is known for refusing to kick out huge contracts. They have proven that they can be far more than competetive by filling their roster with exceptional role players who are well disciplined, hard workers, team oriented and, most importantly, well coached. Rest assured, Assante Samuels will hit the market.
