Meh... His best position is Left Bench... I say leave him there! ;)

He hits LHP better than RHP and this year in 56 PAs is sporting a line of .340/.411/.660

If you don't want his poor fielding in the OF, put him at DH.

Chip Hale is a head scratcher.

I don't have the time, but maybe you might have this... I'm curious what the teams' Win-Loss record is with him playing vs on the bench... Any idea?

April: 0-3 in games he did not play
May: 5-1 in games he did not play, but 4 of those was when he was hurt, and the Dbacks played ATL for three.

When you have stat lines like this:
May 10 @ COL W 5-1 4 1 3 1 0 0 0 1 1 0 0
May 11 @ COL L 8-7 4 2 3 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0

It is hard to pin blame on one player - two good games in a row by Tomas, two totally different pitching outcomes...

Why isn't Tomas playing against a LHP?

Chip Hale said Yasmany Tomas isn't playing today because he has a "balky" left knee. Same knee that bothered him during the spring.

Yea... I know... I did the math and the teams' record when he starts is 16 & 24. So "contributes" to nearly 70% of the wins and 75% of the losses. But, I have no idea what that really means and how that might compare with Drury or other starters...

Great info... Looks like my assumptions about Tomas and his mench like impact on the team could be accurate... He is such a "downer"...

About the same as Owings, better than Castillo, and miles ahead of Ahmed.

Which is a big part of the issue. In isolation, anyone of those 4 in the line-up is not a complete killer. But when you have half your line-up below average, it cascades.

The Diamondbacks have by far the worst baserunning in major-league baseball
