ASU wins! Wow, way too close considering the level of the opponent, but with that said good teams win even on their off nights against worse teams. With a young team coming off an emotional high, its good they didn't have a let down.

42 of Montana State's 62 points came from 3-pointers. They shot and made 10 more 3's than we did.

Good win for a team that's learning under Sendek.

WTG Devils !!

A win is a win. I'll read about it in a few minutes. Go Devils.

How many of you go to the games?

Ive been to 2 hoops games so far this year.

VVVV Youve said that a few times, want to elaborate? That seems entirely bizarre to me. Not to be a typical west side basher, but most things in the Valley are East of Central Ave, I cant imagine having some artificial rule in my mind saying "I wont go East of it (or west for that matter).

^^^ If you look at their schedule: http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/sched/asu-m-baskbl-sched.html

and you live in the Valley, they are going to be on TV a lot more during the Pac10 season.

VVV On the other hand, have you seen what AZTV (its like ch 13 or something) broadcasts? "According to Jim" reruns, I'd hope ANY sporting event would get better ratings than that, but I'm probably sadly wrong.

Have you seen ASU's schedule? They have every right not playing that garbage.

I don't expect UA Football's heated matchups against NAU and Toledo to get any airtime.

The Cats have an RPI ranked #1 in the nation and a strength-of-schedule ranked #3. I think that's a team people would want to watch.

Meanwhile, ASU's RPI sits at 87 and their SOS rank is an embarrassing 222.

http://kenpom.com/rpi.php

Is SOS calculated based on the teams they've already played or on the entire schedule?

Didn't see it posted, but we beat Idaho 76-65 the other night.

Pendergraph had 27 points and 10 boards.

Harden had 14 of his 17 in the 2nd half.

At 9-2 we already have one more win than last season.

Go Devils !!!

Man I get so tired of the classic little brother syndrome. I have absolutely no interest in even opening the Cat thread (Is there a Cat thread?) but every time I want to come in here and talk about my Devils the thread is overrun with posters that don't even like ASU?!?!

I was just looking at the remainder of the schedule. IF and that's still a BIG if, ASU can go 9-9 the rest of the way I say they make the tourney. They might need a win or 2 over a ranked team but I would bet that happens if they go 9-9.

I just got home from the ASU-St Francis game, ASU dominated. Final score was 95-56, ASU shot the 2nd highest FG percentage in school history and the highest 3 pt FG percentage in school history. Harden and Pendergraph dominated as usual against these lesser opponent. Boateng and Polk struggled a bit with some easy shots around the rim, but a wins a win I suppose.

I was happy to see Herb play every player, in the game against Xavier was up by 20 and the end of the bunch didn't get to play, so it was nice to see Woods and Jones get in.

VVV Ug, so? They obviously played better opponents than we did. I agree w/ the earlier poster, enough w/ the UA stuff. I hate reading ASU boards and half the topics being about UA, its like people are more anti UA than they are pro ASU.

I'm excited to see how the Devils do against Oregon in the PAC 10 opener. It should be a good game.

Couldn't agree with you more. I made a pact to never go into the UA message board now that the college board is split into two (well three technically but you know what I mean). I wish everyone would take such a stance. I guess it would be one thing to go look at the other teams posts but keep your comments to yourself. Go talk ASU smack in the UA board!

^Well, I am genuinely interested in things like if Mike Stoops will be fired, when is Lute coming back, etc.. So I think its perfectly acceptable for Devil fans to go over there and talk about those things, just try to be civil.

What annoys me is ASU fans (or vice versa) who seem to hate UA more than the like ASU. Instead of saying "hooray our program is heading in the right direction" they say "hooray, Lutes done for the year, and Bayless is hurt" and I find that odd.

LOL!

Arizona's strength-of-schedule: #1

ASU's strength-of-schedule: #263
oh....i didn't remember saying

if U of A loses to Memphis, ASU clearly is a better team, FINAL FOUR HERE WE COME!!!!!

no, but thanks. and im sure a loss to Virginia AT HOME, before you could use the "bayless is hurt" excuse, really factored in to the #1 ranked strength of schedule.
