The problem
You can say that about any team that is youth-oriented. Like I said earlier in this thread there will be growing pains but the most important thing to remember that the team is in fact growing. Sendek can coach and these guys will get better, he may not have the upside that I would demand as an Arizona fan but he'll fit at ASU.I still think this is a team that will show progress through the year. I think the first thing will happen is Boateng's minutes will disappear while ASU goes to a more effective -- if seriously undersized -- smaller lineup. Somehow they'll end up playing better defense and getting more rebounds.
Talent-wise I think ASU is closer to Arizona than it has been since the Frieder years. Had Chase Budinger foolishly decided to go pro after last year they's be pretty equal. Right now they're both two small teams that have one dependable frontcourt player and who will have to hit shots and play pressure D to win games. Of course the talent thing changes in 2008 when Brandon Jennings and company arrive and we lose very little.
