I'm going to have to try to get out to some games this year. It's been ages since I went out an ASU game. I haven't been since before they left Packard.

Here is the box score for those interested in today's game.

It was reported to be the largest opening weekend crowd in ASU history.

Maybe the largest crowd part is correct, but I've seen some nice opening weekend crowds in my day.

It was silly today. Lots of little league caliber plays. BBs and HBPs all over the place. Seven errors between the two trans combined.

A win is good because they need to start stacking them but this was a concern early in the year.

Alba got rocked starting the first inning but settled in and battled. I think that early OSU offense was attributed to first start jitters.

They play another one tomorrow afternoon vs Austin Peay and then will be off until Friday

Great day at the ballpark. Bullpen was solid. Want to see them continue to lower the amount of walks. I thought Rohan Lettow, who started the game, did well. He only pitched in one game all last year as a freshman so this was a big game and he certainly had jitters.

The offense was quiet for the first 4+ innings but had a huge 5th then hung on. Pretty rare teams play 4 in a row.

Devils are stacking wins. Up next is weekend series vs Oral Roberts who was in the tournament last year

Bats went silent yesterday in road loss at UCLA. Devils pitched a true freshman pitcher in his first action of the season. He gave up 4 runs in a couple innings…all unearned. He was at fault as well in that walking a couple guys and committing two balks but he defense made errors.

Day game today at UCLA. Splitting the series would obviously be the best outcome

Devils shut out UCLA 2-0. Great pitching by the team with one exception but they shut them down.

Weekend series at home vs Minnesota

Tough loss last night but it was a fun game to watch. Bottom of 10th down one ASU loads the bases and has a 3-0 count and they cannot manage to get the tying out certainly winning run across. Sometimes the bad guys win.

Not the best way to start the series but winning it is still there for the taking.

Side note: Minnesota plays small ball really well for as college team
