A quick observation after attending the Sunday doubleheader. 8 position players started the two games and only one junior. Everyone else was either freshmen or sophomores. Some talented kids or there making mistakes freshmen and sophomores make. I feel good about the future of the program after watching those kids

Spencer Torkelson can simply hit the ball. Every time he made contact the ball just exploded off his bat.

The last time Arizona State won a series was April 21-23 against Cal State Bakersfield. Lost five to end last season, split with Miami (OH) and have already lost this series to St. Mary's.

Last time they won a Pac-12 series? April 13-15 of last year (doesn't count single games)

Smith said Boyd Vander Kooi is "up there" in terms of talent level compared to freshmen pitchers he's had in the past. Mindset, however, separates him. He's more mature than others, Smith said.

Devils aren't even sniffing the top 25 in BBWA rankings right now. They need to prove a point. Namely, that they can at least compete with the PAC-12 teams in the top 25--Oregon St., Stanford, and UCLA. It's a really south-east heavy ranking right now.

ASU is young, they need time to find their mojo.

Oklahoma State takes the lead on a ball that wasn't hit hard, but got past Alika Williams and into right field. Ryan Cash was, well, cash, for the Cowboys. 3-2, T10
