Currently, ASU has the 8th ranked recruiting class nationally for 2025.

Samples is a pretty awesome recruiter on that side who also coaches the WR's.

Yeah - we typically can pull skill position players, but are always having problems stocking both sides of the line, sorry if that wasn't clear.

Hmm, this is second dismissal in last week and a half. Isiah Johnson (4 star recruit a couple of years ago) was dismissed last week for missing / arriving late to practices. Coach Kenny isn't playing around, "Get on the bus or get the hell out".
Camp Herm has left the building.

I don't understand this ruling since he wouldn't have been able to play at USC.

Am I reading this right that he can still play in 2024 and 2025?

"Despite being in his fifth year of college, Smith likely has two more years of eligibility after 2023 as a result of 2020 not counting toward eligibility and his status as a redshirt and medical non-counter at USC. "

It sounds that way, which makes the ruling seem even more unfair because it costs him years of not playing.

He will be Dr. Smith by the time he leaves campus.

The NCAA with approval from their member institutions are trying to rein in the rampant transferring going on by actually enforcing the rules and not giving in to the mostly ridiculous eligibility requests that have been going on for some time.

I am sympathetic but these are the rules

More on the Texas to Tempe Connection...

pessimistic view: how quickly will these guys move on from ASU for better coaching jobs elsewhere? Effectively replacing them?

I am pleased, at least in the short run, ASU is creating a better pipeline into Texas.

a bit more optimistic view: Think of this like a syphon. Once you get the flow going through the pipeline, it can sustain itself. Think of all these ASU alums from Texas going back home and talking up their experience at their alma matters and in their hometowns. That can really help generate a solid base long term, but they will have to keep working hard recruiting there to sustain it long term.

It looks like the Sun Devils have a top commit from punter, Kanyon Floyd.

Don’t shoot the messenger. Dylan Tapley is visiting UofA this weekend.
