You have no idea how stupid you sound when you say something and then you back up that point with "period." I can say "The moon is made of cheese, period" and that doesn't make my statement any stronger or more correct, it just makes me sound silly.

You've admitted you were at the game, and haven't seen a replay. That means you were far away from the field, watching the game through the rain, and probably very emotional at the time. If youve got the game on DVR, re-watch it. Yes the WRs could've caught more of Sullivans passes but they would've been very difficult catches, should ASUs wideouts be expected to make miracle catches on every play? As far as players go Danny Sullivan cost ASU the game. Rich Olsen and Dennis Erickson didn't help either, but thats a whole 'nother ball of wax.

"Miracle catches." Really dude? If those were miracle catches then the moon is made of cheese.

Dan Knapp can pack his bags now and transfer to NAU if he can't make catches like that in pressure situations. I'll reserve judgmement on the Williams drop till I see a replay.

It's also possible Sullivan throws a bad ball. Don't recall anyone other than GRob having dropping issues under Carpenter. Not that it makes drops excusable but when a team's WR's are consistently missing passes it's often times partially a QB issue.

Some notes from my break:

- Sullivan does throw a funky ball. It's his grip. I think it's hard to catch because it has an unusual rotation and trajectory (nose down).

- Osweiller's not getting his chance because he's not making the right reads in practice. For all Sullivan's fault, he's going where he's supposed to go.

- The rain had a lot to do with the QB/receiver performance in the first half. Also, Sullivan had footwork issues. In the second half, and especially in the 4th quarter, Sullivan graded out very well. Don't just take my word for it. Erickson said the same thing.

- People shouldn't count out Samson Alphabet. I guess that includes me. He's still practicing and suits up every game.

- Erickson wants to/needs to win this year. People wanting him to sacrifice some forward motion to get a jump on next year are talking/posting to a wall. Not going to happen.

- The biggest problem, IMO, is the offensive coaching. None of the QBs are playing with much confidence. Everything is micromanaged. Erickson needs to hire a QB coach who can build these QBs up. (I've suggested Van Raaphorst, but no one I know thinks he would take a massive pay cut from his medical sales job).

You've got awfully strong opinions about something for a guy who saw the game once, in person, without the benefit of replay.

Agreed the ball just looks awkward coming out of his hand. It wabbles and sort of moves like a Brandon Webb sinker.

Thats no surprise, Samson was apparently pushing Sullivan for the job before his elbow started acting up. He brings a lot to the table that Sullivan obviously doesn't. If his elbow is usable and Sullivan really stinks it up against OSU or gets slightly knicked up at some point during the game I hope Samson gets his first chance of the year.

Danny White? I dunno if he'd want the job or view it as a step down since he's been a Head Coach in the AFL.

Ha! We want to build the QBs up, not shred them to pieces. He's brutal on QBs. Danny could've been a great QB coach but that ship has sailed.

^Where you getting that he shreds QBs to pieces? I dont know one way or the other, but Bonner on the Rattlers always seemed to do well and he loved White. But I really dont know much more about it than that.

Obviously Dennis Erickson knows more about the game that I ever will, or would want to... however, sometimes being too close to any situation leads to misjudging your overall position.

How is Sullivan the best option to keep winning now when he can't throw the ball accurately or with much confidence?

I don't think the Sun Devils have any great options at QB, but it seems that they do have a good/better option... but then again, what do I know.

Well, the whole "coach knows best because he's the coach" thing doesn't always work. See Mike Stoops and the Nick Foles/Matt Scott QB competition. That being said Mike Stoops is a pretty poor coach. But you also have to recall that Whisenhunt started Matt Leinart over a clearly superior Kurt Warner for several games in 2007. It's not very often but sometimes coaches are wrong and us lowly fans are right.

Bonner was tough and responded well -- and went through a spell where he was almost perfect. Even Danny will tell you he can be harsh on his QBs during the game.

Arizona sports fans make me mad. I thought it would be better at ASU since it's the fan's school, but nope... Very few people seem to care at all. Apparently it is too hot for many of our fans to attend tomorrow's game. Pathetic lack of excitement around here.

this is how the early games are, noone wants to see those terrible teams we played. expect it to pick up today with the Pac-10 schedule starting.
