Abbot was lights out. Cant overcome that.

I will say though you guys got away with Boateng traveling all game and numerous offensive fouls.

What happened to no easy buckets?

and the laughter caption should be changed to,

Laughter: it makes it embarrassing when the guy drops 28 in your eye the next time.

Boateng did have a traveling issue that wasn't called, but the Cats made way too many turnovers and missed far too many free throws to really complain about officiating. That, and ASU made their threes. When they do that they are tough to beat because, well, that means they actually have offense that game.

Ahh well, nice game Sun Devils.

The combination of poor D, piss poor FT shooting, turnovers and Ty Abbot caved us in. The officiating did infuriate though.

No officiating issues here. Thought the refs did a surprisingly good job considering they're employed by the Pac-10.

ASU deserved to win, they're much more on the same page right now. Of course that tends to happen when the majority of your rotation is high IQ upperclassmen.

Parrom actually defended Abbott well, it was Kyle Fogg, Momo, and Lavender (probably playing his last games as a Wildcat) asleep at the wheel most of the game defensively. It's becoming a recurring theme with Fogg on the defensive end who's quickly earning a spot in Sean Miller's doghouse. The kid's probably just too soft for a Sean Miller team.

Nic is a nice player but has been exposed as a beneficiary of surrounding talent and a poor fit in Miller's scheme.

Arizona has a big future in front of them once they purge some of their scholarships. ASU won this game on the back of their 2007 class when they severely out-recruited Arizona. UofA has done better acquiring talent since so once things turn over UofA will be the better program. Look for Miller to bounce at least a couple players this offseason too and for the staff to hit decommitted coaching change casualties hard.

To be fair, though this was a riverally game and both teams really wanted to win, this game meant way more for the Devils than the Cats, and I think it really showed in the last 8-10 minutes of the game...

With the win, assuming ASU takes care of Stanford, and really they have no excuse to drop that one, next Saturday will be a showdown really for the PAC-10 title this year..

A win and the Devils will pull even for the season series, and will control their destiny for the postseason...

A loss and the Devils may have to at the very least make it to the Pac-10 tournament championship to get an invite, even finishing 12-6 22-9 overall..

overall great game for the Devils, always great to win in Tucson :)

Well, for decades we pretty much never had a chance to even sniff victories whether the game was in Tucson or Tempe. Now, we've actually had the better of it the last few seasons and can reasonably expect to not have such a gigantic gap between the two programs in the foreseeable future.

It was wierd, I thought we'd probably win today and was never nervous about the game.

Of course, Sendek's not a bad coach like Evans and the semi-retired Bill Frieder were nor is Sean Miller the all-timer that Lute Olson was. Unfortunately for Miller he's having to pay the bill for the dysfunctional state of the program that allowed Arizona only to have Kyle Fogg and Nic Wise to show for three consecutive recruiting classes.

That being said, part of my issues so far with Miller this year is that he's been too big picture instead of trying to win every game. He's definitely sacrificed some games this season as a result of implementing his system. I understand that he eventually wants to run a 9-10 deep program that subs regularly and getting everyone accustomed to that system right away will benefit in the long run. But Derrick Williams should never be averaging around the same PT as someone like Eric Boateng. Williams is already the best big man in the conference and should be playing every minute of every game unless fouls say otherwise.

Guys, I'm glad ASU won, but that was some awful basketball for a late season game. It was painful to watch. Both teams resorting to grabbing, pulling, whatever they could get away with on defense to hide the fact they are both AWFUL offensive teams. It didn't look like a game between two upper-tier major conference teams.

This is a point of contention I have w/ Miller's substitutions. Williams got on a roll in the first few minutes and then Kyryl subs in. Talk about a momentum killer. Jordan Hill did well last season playing nearly every minute of every game. What's to say Williams cant do the same?

That's because the Pac-10 is not a major conference this year. It's easily worse than the other BCS schools by a wide margin and you can make a very good argument that it's worse than the MWC and the A-10 at the very least.

The substitution patterns are basically set before every game barring foul trouble. That's how Miller does it and he won't change.

That's the truth. Even some of the bottom feeders in the Big 12 and Big East, like Providence or Texas Tech, I've watched this season an thought, "In the PAC 10, these guys would be right in the thick of it to win a title."

Every team in the BigEast would be in the hunt in the Pac-10. Providence would be in the hunt, but a team like USF would win it i think

No one has mentioned this yet, but it is important to point out what a thug/Dousche Kevin Parrom really is...

Just a classless kid.. Again after the buzzer showing just how "tough" he is by intentionally bumping Glasser... it wasn't anything big just a low classless move by a thug.. thats all...

Do you have some targets in mind? The only coaching casualty that I see, which really won't be a casualty is Zeke. Dominique Ferguson would definitely re-open his recruitment if Thomas gets a job with the Clippers. ASU lives and dies with the play of Abbott and RK, when they are on they usually win. Experience was the key as ASU is a veteran team that has played well in an extremely weak & unpredictable Pac-10 this year. I hope UA handles CAL so ASU has a better shot at clinching the Pac-10 title, I am hoping at least one AZ school makes it into the NCAA tournament.

DePaul, Oregon, NC State, Texas Tech, and St. John's are almost definitely looking for new coaches next season. Maybe UConn and Georgia Tech. Two of the above have the cash to lure somebody away from a bigger school. It happens every offseason, at least 10-15 top 150 players will become available.
