At what point did you guys realize Wilks was unfit to coach?

I don’t think anyone is getting carried away, but I think you might be underestimating him a bit. He graduated Columbus school of law and became a federal prosecutor. He has won numerous awards for his work in the society and in business. He was, as you know, the driving force behind building the stadium, and he is the main reason (or at least responsible) that it has officially been sold out about 130 times. Now, if you only thought of his success as being the leader of an NFL team, then you are certainly right.

LOL. It's shocking that an ultra-wealthy and -connected white man could get into an elite law school. It's less shocking that he could have a six-year career in a government job with literally no accomplishments.

"Officially sold out." Who makes that official, I wonder.

If Rosen is the Cardinals franchise QB, I don't even want to waste a year of Rosen.

Never liked the hire. Although in Keims defense, there were no clear cut great choices. I wanted Shurmur but the jury is still out on him.

I liked Wilkos even less after his post hiring interview. Threw every cliche in the book out there.

I like guys who have their own mind and say what’s on it, ala BA.

I also liked Buddy Ryan though.

In retrospect, Todd Haley, who I would’ve been okay with, would probably have been the best choice.

My choice moving forward would be Haley or Josh McDaniels( yes, that guy)

Do we still know this is true? Peterson thought the same thing about Brandon Williams.
I don’t like Brandon Williams, but I mean, what do you expect him to do? Put a teammate down?

I honestly haven't felt less excited about a coaching staff this quick into a season for a long time but at the same time, I am remembering that it takes a while for a team to assimilate to a new coaching staff. I am excited about Josh Rosen and if by week 12 the coaching is still abysmal, I will be calling for their heads.

That final drive with 3 straight runs while rosen is on fire was infuriating. Even if we make the kick, you are giving seattle 90 seconds to come back against us and you DO NOT do that with russel Wilson. Priority one should be get first downs and run down the clock so even if you miss the FG, it goes into overtime. To stop in our tracks like that is some of the dumbest coaching I have ever seen.

I think rosen was 4-4 for 40 yards on that drive before that too.

It can, but it doesn't have to.

What is probably going to drive this decision is who is available this offseason. We will be a preferred spot due to Rosen (if he continues to improve), top end talent on the roster, cap space, and a top 10 draft pick. The flip side of that is so will the Jets, Browns, Texans, and Seahawks.

Hackett and DeFilippo are two early options.

That has a lot of weight assuming they would be conservative on turning over the staff after one season. If someone they really like is available to them, it makes the decision and risk more tolerable. Wilks would have to perform terribly for one and done with no real clue on who to replace him with.

That’s fair. I’m not born and raised in American culture, so I don’t really know it that well. To me, his resumes and accomplishments are impressive.

"Officially sold out." Who makes that official, I wonder.

That’s a good question, and I obviously don’t know the answer. If I had to guess it would probably be that most of (if not all) the empty seats have been reserved for season ticket holders, and either they haven’t used the tickets, or they have sold it and the buyers haven’t used it. In this scenario the tickets would have been sold from the organization, and thus they can be registered as that in their system as it is technically a sold out stadium.

Is it announced at the stadium that it is sold out due to the attendance, due to the sold tickets or simply as a sellout? There’s a big different between the two ways of register a sellout, and it might not be more than spin from their side.

Browns might be enticing with you talent too.

But other than Hopkins the Texans aren’t brimming with additional talent around deshaun and their defense is getting long in the tooth.

Jets don’t have any other young offensive weapons.

Seahawks don’t either and defense is getting bare.

At least cards have David Johnson alongside Rosen and PP and C.J. defensively. The Humphries, nkemdiche types of young talent are likely on the other teams as well. But we have three top tier talents in addition to young QB, high draft pick and cap space that most of our competitors for a new coach can’t match.

You didn’t mention guys like Kirk and Golden, and I understand why. But especially Kirk, I think by the end of this season he will have proved to be a legit #2 and in the running to take over the #1 WR position on this team in 2019.

Because we won't have an actual #1 WR?

I had a bad feeling when I first heard him speak. He just didn't sound very smart or personable. I didn't have a lot of confidence in him to game plan or make necessary in-game adjustments. Then I read about how he wants a conservative offense, and imagined an unimaginative, boring offense which seems to be his preference. Hoping his philosophy changes if Rosen continues to deal and with the avalanche of criticism directed his and McCoy's way. We'll see. Unfortunately, I think we're stuck with him for the rest of the year and probably next year too.

"conservative offense" does not necessarily mean run, run, pass...and only pass five yards.
it just means throwing 30+ yards down field is gonna be rare.

With a good oline, running the ball up the middle or off tackle can provide some pretty exciting football when you have a guy like David Johnson.
the difference is,... chunk plays come more often from skill position abilities rather than just from the QB's arm strength.

the west coast offense is conservative by nature but in its day provided some very exciting games.

where Mike B deserves credit:

h

Finally -- when Wilks was hired they had no idea they would have a young QB on board. So -- I would think the model of pairing a young franchise QB with an innovative offensive mind would be attractive. to get that, I think you have to turn over the coaching staff.

I disagree. that QB class was a known commodity when wilks was hired,...everyone knew and was talking about that class. we didnt know for sure we were gonna get one but IMO..getting one was part of the plan. we signed bradford and glennon in advance as a just in case

This is entirely nonsense.

Even though I've said we should give the coach time. Long term I think this ends the same way anyhow unless he gets a very high quality OC with a good deal of independence.

So I'd rather it happen sooner rather than later but we'll see how it plays out.

Not so. Conservative can be exciting. Running well combined with quick hitting short passes to wr's in stride can be very effective and is the basis for the wco

west coast offense is fun when you are winning. When you are losing, it makes the games even more painful. I’d take just about anything over what we have now. Never seen anything like it

When he screwed up the end of yesterday's game and then doubled down and said he would do the same thing if he could do it over again. Get out of here with that garbage.

Yeah NS..... If I could make an adjustment and win, or do it the same way and lose... I pick plan B.
