Whatever they do with Big, I want the new coach to decide it, not Rod Graves.

Well, according to M. Bidwill it's Graves decision in the end, but I somehow doubt that a new coach after speaking to Loney, reviewing tape, etc., wouldn't favour keeping Big over taking a chance on the draft.

Further, if we tag or re-sign Big it allows the team to concentrate on more pressing areas on Day one of the draft: Weakside LB, Free Safety, Corner.

the new staff needs to fix the weakest area on this team first. Seven weeks
ago I would have said the oline. Right now we need to draft a LB, CB, FS or
DE with our 1st rounder. The best on the board of these needs should be
wearing Cardinal red. Immediate help is needed so sign Davis.

Weve been coaching to "those" for long enough. Apparently coaching isnt working.

The 2nd half of this season, it sure looked like we managed to coach up the OLine (one of the positions where we had a legit coach and not one of Green's buddies)

Any one who comes in to replace big will have more significant shortcomings than Big, at least for the first few years.

There is no reason to not at least tag him for a year. None.

We need to re-sign Leonard Davis... Joe Thomas isn't going to get past the browns...I put the house on it!

The best thing for the Cards would be for Joe Thomas to be off the board.

Joe Thomas = Robert Gallery.

Best bet is to trade down and get Jake Long or some more defensive help.

Dont have the time to look back and research it but I have read people on here saying that the compensation is 2 first rounders if we tag him like it would happen but nothing specifically saying so. More of astrong suggestion.

I have most certainly read people say that we could get a 1st before along with other picks.

You're misunderstanding the rule, Shane.

If we tag Big and want to keep him, then the other teams can get him against our will for two first rounders.

If the team is looking for a trade, then they can trade for what they like.

This is the case of franchising him in order to get some kind of compensation for a former 1st rounder, so the teams is able to negotiate trade value without any regard to the 2 1st rounders rule.

My guess is that Big's trade value is around a high 2nd rounder.

Maybe I have missed it but who has ever mentioned a 1st or 2 1st rounders.

I am the biggest proponent of a trade should be very easy considering the offseason circumstances, and I dont even think a 1st would happen.

What's your guess then?

I'm thinking high 2nd rounder

Does Big have a hearing problem?

With Warner at QB, he had several false starts. When Leinart was in, he seemed quite improved. Is it as simple as Leinart yells louder than Warner?

Maybe Big just needs a hearing aid?

LD is not needed. Yes he is likely our best OL. I agree it would be stuuuupid to let him go with zero compensation. However it would be far from a doomsday event if LD never plays in a cardinal uni ever again.

Nobody is going to give 1 or two first rounders for him either, You guys better set your sights lower on the compensation end.

Jeez, Where were you Shane when I was barking up this tree a couple days ago ?!!?

But I agree with you.
