Here is an awesome quote from an anonymous NFC executive regarding Patrick Mahomes: "He has a great arm, big balls and he's mobile. He is going to drive his head coach crazy for the first couple of years and there is no getting around that. If it clicks for him and he's coachable, I think he could become a special quarterback."

Man, they measure everything these days.

You just can't be too careful.

I like Mahomes.

I think someone likes him enough to take him in the top 45

So -- 13 feels crazy high. 45 won't be high enough.

NFL network had an analyst on this morning who kept hammering the fact that Arizona is the perfect spot for him because he needs some time behind a guy like Carson. He loved the guy.

That's what I want. Trade back, draft Mahomes and add another wide receiver to fill Floyd's spot. Mahomes' issues are largely correctable, but few prospects came move like he does AND throw the rock the way he does.

If we trade back , in the range of pick 20/25, we would have some teams ahead of us which can draft mahomes?
I see the Houston Texans

Mahomes agent must be doing a great job to get people to think he's 1st round material. That initial report can be the exact same thing said about Chad Kelly, who will likely be around in rounds 5 and below.

EVERY QB has looked good in that system and not one has ever transferred to a NFL offense with any degree of success. Ask Detroit and Cincy how they feel about spending a high pick on David Klingler and Andre Ware.

They just gave big money to Osweiler to start, maybe if they feel Osweiler is a stop gap.

Don't forget the June Jones run n shoot QBs from Hawaii & Smu as well.

In college it's more about the system where's in the NFL it's mostly about the QBs talent

People said the same thing about QBs from Oregon until Mariota, sometimes the talent is there system or not. I am not saying that is the case with Mahomes as I haven't watched him enough but his individual workouts will go a long way to telling pro scouts whether it is talent or system.

Yeah this is the same basic comment I was making on Mahomes in another. They guy makes some amazing throwws. His mechanics are terrible, but if a good coach works with him, Mahomes potential is high.

its kinda Favre like, Stafford like --- in the sense of a very live arm and delivering from a variety of angles, stances, etc

i guess it comes down to what kind of person Mahomes is;

will he committ to the mental side of the game and the work to clean up his mechanics

i dont think the stuff he does will ever go away -- but can you get in to some reasonable place where the consistency of delivery is better

Isn't BA considered the QB Whisperer? I mean Mahomes is a much better prospect than Logan Thomas. If he is there in Round 2 then snap him up.

We keep saying this if a QB prospect falls, snap em up in blah blah blah round. This is why we have no QBOTF on the roster. The end of Palmer is extreme freaking near. I think QBOTF is the most dire need on the roster, not just long term, but now. I don't want to see the Cardinals freak out and mortgage future drafts for a project (Goff).

Mahomes won't be available at #45. His potential is good starting NFL QB if he is developed right.

Supposedly, Texas Tech says no air raid QB has a greater football IQ. He's also the best athlete and has the best arm of any of the air raid QBs. If Mahomes wanted to, he could be a running QB, but he always looks to throw first.

Krangthebrain is correct. We shouldn't be waiting for our QBOF in the draft. Take no chances, use the 13th on whoever it is. We lost out last year. Denver beat us to the punch.

Mahomes is a wrist thrower that throws over 60 yds accurately. Mahomes is smart. Mahomes is a Jake the Snake without the coloring book. Get him.

I don't like taking a shot on Mahomes even in round 2. The Cards' pick is early enough that they should get a starter. There's no denying Mahomes has the physical package, but BA is not known for his patience and this guy will try any coach's patience. If Watson is there at 13 I'd roll the dice. I don't think Kelly lasts until round 5. It wouldn't shock me to see him go as early as round 3.

This Free agency period and draft will be the test to see if we are actually pushing in our chips for a super bowl run or looking to the future. If they are going for it they can use the franchise tag and get creative with the cap to keep Calais for another year and maybe pick up a few mercenary type free agents (Brandon Marshall/veteran CB/Middle Linebacker with a pulse) and then use the draft to fill in depth on the defense/offense. The worse thing i think they could do is go half way. Maybe franchise jones but let calais walk. stand pat with the interior linemen, draft another CB to put in the mix for a training camp battle to decide the top three. I think Calais will be the canary in the coal mine. If we keep him we'll know they are going for it. if they start talking about cap flexibility we'll know they are more worried about the budget for this year and the next few years.

There are 0 chances to sign calais Campbell
No enough cap room for him

Not one QB from this air raid system has ever had any kind of sustained sucess in the NFL not one.

There is a reason for that
