Sounds like you came to the arena looking for things that are wrong rather than right.

There are aspects of his game that you can nitpick for sure. He can be a bit more aggressive on defense underneath the basket. However, the good far outweighs the bad. His offensive game is limitless. Incredibly efficient. He can guard the perimeter. He's a freak athletically. Best part of all is he's coachable, so you know his game is only going to develop further.

If he's on the Suns, just enjoy. He'll play in numerous all-star games.

He really does remind me of The Admiral, at least on offense. Even the form on his shot looks similar.

I wish he had a little more pit bull inside him on D, but there’s no doubt, whatsoever he’s got ability there out the wazoo. It’s just going to be up to his next coach to push him there.

I will do cartwheels backwards if the Suns draft him.

If the Suns select #1, I think Ayton would have to be the pick less there be rioting on the Suns forum.

Buckle up for Doncic!

Doncic would be hard to turn down if the Suns draft #2.

However, I'm already starting to think about a minor trade down ... a notch or two... pick up another draft pick.

Then bundle some picks and get a second pick in the top 8.

It would be difficult to accomplish unless it is all in place before the draft. You would have to be the 2 or 3 pick--probably 2. The team you would trade with would have to have a clear "top two" in mind. Then you would have to have a second team that is willing to take all you offer in the top 8. Finding two teams willing to wiggle around in the top 8 seems unlikely to me.

Umm... I'm confused, was this a joke from the start?

UofA's biggest problem is they don't give him the ball at some point every possession. They also play Ristic too much, I admire Ristic's hustle and passion but it leave Ayton to guard the opposing 4 (because Ristic is way too slow to defend away from the hoop). Ayton is an absolute monster, best freshmen big since Anthony Davis.

Yep as a UCLA fan I said after the first game UCLA won, we only won because Ayton was missing the midrange shots he's been making all year. Last night I don't think he missed a single one.

he's a remarkable talent at that size and length he's such a good shooter, and he passes out of the double like a much more experienced player.

I posted this on the Arizona board about the only flaw I can find with him at this point is he appears to lack timing on jumping when he's stationary. Case in point he barely won the opening tip against Welsh, and lost the one in the OT, even though if you add reach and vertical, he should be 18 inches or more above Welsh. I think it's a timing thing and I think it's why he's not blocking 3.5 shots a game. But he's still a pretty remarkable player.

I like Bagley at #2 if they can't get Ayton. I know some people thought Bagley could move to Center in the NBA but I don't see that here. He could play PF next to Bender at Center for the Suns. If the Suns go after Bagley though I'd like to see Chriss traded. Maybe he could be packaged with the later picks so the Suns can get another pick around 6 or 7 to take either Young, if he's still on the board, or Bamba. Bamba would be who they should aim for but if Young were still available there I don't think they could pass on him. Bamba and Bagley should be a solid front court for years to come.

I know we have Payton but since he's a RFA that would give the Suns some insurance in case he signs a large offer from another team. Young could easily take over and provide a different look for the team while he's on the court. There wouldn't be as much pressure to deliver as a rookie if he were to play backup to Payton for his first year. Ideally he'd take over as the starter after that and Payton would be a steady backup.

If the Suns can't get Ayton, two picks in the top 7 would be sweet.

The Suns can't count on Chriss or Bender, need a PG and a center so I'm very flexible in this draft.

I think they need a PG, PF, and Center. PF should be addressed in FA instead of the draft but if they end up with Bagley or Porter then so be it. Bagley is more of a PF than Porter but I think Porter should be able to be a stretch 4 in the NBA.

The Suns first pick will be crucial for what the Suns do later. I could be happy if the Suns went big with their first two picks especially if they plan to keep Payton.

I just hope the Suns pick either #1 or #2 so they are able to select who they want rather than who they end up with. I think they can move from #2 to #1 with their extra picks also, provided whoever is drafting ahead of them isn't 100% sold on Ayton and only Ayton.

Could be wrong but I don't think a team with the #1 pick passes on Ayton.

I don’t see it either. Teams don’t trade big men that dominate that much as freshman and have so much polish to their offensive game at such a young age.

We agree on this.

I don't think anyone will trade out of the #1 spot either unless they become enthralled with Doncic. That's the only way I can see it happening.
