Right!

Just my opinion but if Ayton has a monster year or even a career don't get too upset. I know people tend to get hung up on this with Arizona players like we should have kept them.

I look at it this way. Its like when you see a couple break up and all of a sudden they start hitting the gym and changing their ways. It took a break up for them to be a better version of themselves. Had they stayed in the relationship all that change would have never happen.

There is no need to be upset if Ayton becomes a Shaq 2.0 because honestly he would have never done it here or without that push.

Ayton should never be mentioned in the same sentence as Shaq, KG or Robinson again. Starting now.

Ok, I just watched Aytons press conference.

this dude is totally delusional, he is talking about teaching the young guys how to win, how his advice wasn’t taken in phoenix.

he is taliking about the “environment“ he was in being a problem.

it is now clear to me he did need to go.

no way. the biggest problem on the Suns was clearly the team not letting Ayton shoot 3s!

Pretty sure “the score” is the name of the source he was quoting. Go look at the image he posted.
The second “the score” I meant to type “overall score” jokingly but mistyped and said “the score” again. Whaaa whaaa. Fail. I fixed.

Holy crap I can’t believe he actually said they wouldn’t take his advice. WTH?!?

What freaking advice could he possibly provide that would have any credibility whatsoever?!?!

To be totally clear, I don’t think Ayton actually said he should be shooting threes in his presser today.

But yeah… any advice he had probably did fall on deaf ears. And for good reason.

Ayton unfollowed Booker and KD on social media. He's had Chris Paul unfollowed for a while. He also has Gambo blocked. Stark contrast to the Twins, Payne, and even what Paul has said and done since leaving Phoenix.

Glad to see his first priority is developing some maturity.

I'm glad he has learned some lessons on accountability.

He's a child.

Season opener, last year, McGee comes in to guard him and on one of their first one on one plays Ayton busts out a post up spin move for a monster one handed jam, initially it seemed like "He's a changed man!" but Ayton was thinking "mission accomplished", put it in cruise control.

So frustrating. Last year when everyone was injured he failed to step up despite a real opportunity to showcase, then as the team started getting healthy from mid Jan to the beginning of March he was an absolute monster, had several of the best games of his career, the team was playing well again, finally, then he completely checked out down the home stretch.

I expect him to start off stuffing the stat sheet in Portland, probably look like an all-star for a while, but when the doldrums hit and he is stuck on a bad and frustrating team he will check out... again.

Say what you want about Ayton, but he dominates this message board. Dude was traded days ago, and people are still going on and on about him. Who cares about all our new players, right?

Maybe there is enough interest in Ayton to start a sub forum so we can keep talking about him throughout the season?

Ayton will dominate this board for years, maybe decades to come. He will do well in Portland and I think people here will be highly disappointed with Nurkic. Nurkic has a rep for being as hit-and-miss on the court as Ayton, except Nurkic looks for his own shot more, and is less efficient. He has a rep for being soft.

The Suns have a need at center right now.

This was the best we could do, I suppose, but its not good. Value in this trade has to come from other players.

He will dominate this board for years because he was our only number one pick ever, he was picked in one of the most hyped drafts ever, we took him over a player that the media put into the Hall of Fame before his rookie season ended, and all told he was a huge disappointment. Oh, and because he's never been able to keep his mouth shut and he says some ridiculuous things.

Personally I don't intend to invest much energy in him going forward. I wasn't ever in love with his game but I haven't joined the "he's horrible" crowd either.

To me, he's a disappoinment solely because he showed us how much better he can be, not because he's a waste of space or anything else his detractors have said about him. He used to be a significant factor even when he wasn't putting up numbers but that stopped once he wasn't extended. So losing him now really isn't costing us much. Nurkic isn't great but he's better than the Ayton who played for us this past season, if we can keep him on the court.

Well, since yesterday was press day four NBA teams it’s still newsworthy, especially when he took shots at the suns

It's better than keeping Ayton - only thing he's dominAyton is his own head

All of this. He is the biggest bust we've had - no player has been a bigger disappointment in terms of physical ability vs. actual play.

Good riddance - let someone else deal with that curse.

I know some might take issue with that label but honestly we've never drafted someone with such high realistically high expectations before. Loaded draft class, #1 overall pick we take the 7 footer who was a consensus top choice for a little over a year. I didn't say he the top choice but a top choice, and honestly most considered him the safe bet over Luka. And what did he do? The same thing every other Center we've had has done, little to nothing. He never established himself as a legit #1, 2, or 3 option on offense and wasn't a game changer on defense either. He really didn't do more than the Tyson Chandler's, Marcin Gortat's, and Luc Longley's before him. Mediocre most nights but made sure to show glimpses occasionally to keep most of us invested.

I thought it would be a lot longer until we had a worse disappointment than Josh Jackson or Dragan Bender. But here we are.

For as irritating as the DA situation had been, Josh Jackson was infinitely worse when you consider everything that was done to actively dissuade us from getting Tatum and the other mishigas that surrounded him afterwards. Josh Jackson was completely useless to the Suns.

Is the draft itself overrated? Especially because of how young these players are coming out? When you are drafting 18-19 year olds you are playing the lottery, and not just the NBA lottery.

On top of that, being completely delusional and deeply unserious made him very difficult to root for.

DA was the only #1 pick we’ve EVER had and he was an Arizona boy, and had the tools to become the best center this franchise has ever had (even with all his faults he probably was the best we’ve had at the position).

You’re basing Josh Jackson on stuff we THINK happened but we don’t know for sure. We know DA.

LOL - I can't quite figure out why the biggest U of A fanboy doesn't see Ayton as the biggest bust...hmm.
