If anyone had told you that with 1:51 left in the 1st half, behind 7-0 with a QB who was routinely missing passes, that the Cardinals would score 33 points, would you have ever believed it?

At that point I would have called it a miracle.

Credit Chandler Jones for tipping Gabbert's pass at 1:50 and Calais Campbell for intercepting the tip---then Larry Fitzgerald for running a textbook double move and Drew Stanton for slowing his throwing motion down just enough to get the ball to Fitz to make it 7-7.

Then for the first time this year, the Cardinals come out of half-time ready to make a move....and who would have thought that (a) they would pooch kick the kickoff and that (b) Ifeanyi Momah would make the ST play of the year (other than the 60 yard FG) by forcing a fumble and pouncing on it himself.

Then...David Johnson, who was outstanding all night to the tune of 157 rushing yards, bounces off-tackle for a sweet go-ahead TD...followed shortly thereafter by what may be the best pass Drew Stanton has thrown as a Cardinal...a perfectly thrown fade to the end zone for Larry Fitzgerald. 21-7 Cardinals.

Was very frustrating to see the 49ers march the length of the field to make it 21-14...at that point it still was anyone's game.

But the defense regrouped...highlighted by 14 tackles by Deone Bucannon...2 sacks my Markus Golden, 1.5 sacks by Kevin Minter, 2 sacks by Campbell, the last for a safety...some pesky coverage, highlighted by Pat P. keeping T. Smith without a single reception and Marcus Cooper making a sweet interception of Gabbert at a time when the game was still in question and the Cardinals needed a momentum shift.

I would also add that D.J. Swearinger had a very good night coming up to clean up on missed tackles and contains on Gabbert.

Plus---how about the STs? Both Nelson and John Brown had good returns---the cover teams were the best all year---Quigley punted very well and even handled one bad snap to help Catanzaro go perfect on the game.

The offense closed the game out on a 6-7 minute 4th quarter drive behind the legs of Johnson and set up by a hungry offensive line that featured John Wetzel and Earl Watford at the guard spots. Jared Veldheer, A.Q. Shipley and D.J. Humphries played very well...Mike Ipuati was a beast before he got injured...and TE Jermaine Gresham had a much better game this week, making some key blocks to spring Johnson.

I cannot even begin to express how relieved I feel after the near hopeless feeling I had toward the end of the first half. Thus---I would prefer tonight to just be thankful and not get too critical of anything or any coach or player. There were more than enough positives in the last 32 minutes of this game to build on as the team tries to fight back from the 1-3 start.

The only suggestion I have is that the team really needs a #2 RB now. Even though Ellington and Taylor ran hard when they got their carries---the Cardinals need someone tougher than Ellington and more dynamic than Taylor. Because...BA must have felt good tonight to ride that running game as much as the could and not turn the ball over. But---he has to give Johnson some much needed breathers. If BA want to stay with the power game, how about Elijhaa Penny? He seems like another RB the team can ride for some stretches---plus he lowers his shoulder upon contact, something that can wear a defense down.

That game was a lot of fun to watch. I thought DJ Humpheries and Earl Watford really played well and opened up some huge lanes. Markus Golden was tremendous as well, he got a couple of sacks and numerous other pressures.

Was very excited to see so many Cards fans at the game! We even got a "Lar-ry" chant going after his second TD.

I want to add that BA deserves a good deal of credit for this win---he did a super smart thing by now blowing up again after the loss to the Rams. There comes a point where a coach can overdo the criticism and the yelling---and BA was very wise to stay calm and poised. Like Phil Simms said---maybe now BA can enjoy his birthday a little more happily.

Plus---credit Bettch and Amos Jones---no major breakdowns this week---some missed plays, but the players responded well, especially in light of the short week, losing Carson Palmer and coming off a rugged game 4 days previously. The Cardinals played and hit hard in this game---they really earned the victory.

Would have been great to have a bruising power back to punish a division foe when they were tired.

I thought Penny would be picked up by another team before he could be placed on the Cardinals practice squad. I like his bruising running style along with decent speed. It would be great if the Cardinals put him on their active roster.

It was good to see a few different faces out there being productive. Momah and Kareen Martin on special teams. I wonder if they will try to work Martin in some at OLB? He looked so good in the preseason. Maybe not though. Seeing as Markus Golden is your leading sack getter at 6. And Okafor seems to be okay with his torn bicep. I was skeptical about that. I thought they should have cut him to clear the spot.

Wetzel and Watford got some push - against the worst run defense in the league to be fair. Will next week finally be Toner time?

It was too bad to see Valles make a couple blunders right out of the gate. I have the feeling he'll rebound though and put those behind him. I thought he really looked the part of a real TE in preseason.

Yeah I'm noticing that alot in the games. I wonder if BA isn't seeing the same thing. Sometimes you can see that DJ is gassed and then they run him another play and he doesn't have the energy to make anything of it.

What worried me about this game was 2 passes by Gabbert the D got lucky they were bad passes. If he was a little more accurate on 2 throws, this game would have been different.

Doesn't that happen in every game?

Seriously Mitch... clearly, BA said/did something at halftime that FINALLY inspired this team to come out in the 3rd quarter and make a statement. They immediately punched the 9ers in the mouth! Yes, SF answered with that long 80 yard scoring drive, which still baffles me that this team can have enough breakdowns against such a clearly inferior team... BUT, they played with a newfound speed, passion and enough execution to bury the 9ers the rest of the way.
I thought Badger still looked slow and a bit tentative, which is just damn sad to see. I pray that when the day comes that he busts off that brace, he becomes the Badger of last season!
I'm worried about Mathis and that nagging foot... and haven't heard what took Iupati out?
Would LOVE to see Penny get his shot at RB2!
Floyd... good grief...has there ever been such a highly talented WR just suck it up in a contract year as has Floyd? Wow...
14 tackles for Deone... man he was very disciplined tonight!
It was fun to see Fitz dominate in the passing game, but how 'bout his blocking? Just never gets old seeing him at the end of his career, still play with such great passion and love for the game...and still stick his nose into the dirty side of the game!
And special teams finally didn't hurt us...and that's all that need be said there.

But let's make no mistake here... this 9er team is a joke. Carlos Hyde and Kerley are really the only legit talents on that entire team (with Bowman now gone for the year and Crabtree out as well). Gabbert is awful and I'm shocked we didn't see Kap enter this game! Had Gabbert actually executed better, we would've been looking at a very different ball game as there were plenty of times Gabbert should've hit or located wide open receivers.... The 9er Oline and Dline are a joke and so we can at least say we did what we were supposed to do by dominating a clearly inferior team at the point of attack! That will likely be much different next Monday night against the Jets...
Still think 28 pass attempts by Stanton are about 10 too many...and if we had Penny back there to spell DJ, we probably would've been more effective in the run game when DJ was catching a breather...
Why did BA go with the new guy (Valles) at TE over Momah? Odd to me...

The Jets are a much better coached and more talented team by far. This Cards team will still need to be better across all units in order to put up more W's. I would expect Palmer to be back next Monday night, but even if he is, will he be "enough" as we will no doubt need more production from the QB position in order to beat the Jets - DJ will not rush for 150 yards next Monday night...
The loss against the Rams is likely gonna sting come the end of the year. I believe that at best, we would be battling for the final post season slot come December... and it could likely be against the Rams and/or a Seahawks team that looks like they are getting their act together with each passing week... as well as a team from the NFC East since both the Vikes and Packers appear to be locks for the post season. Therefore, while still early, I will predict that we will need 10 wins in order to secure that final playoff birth. 9 might have us on the doorstep, but again, the Rams loss last week would likely factor in if we only get to 9 wins. So 8 more W's...which would mean we would have to go 8 & 3 the rest of the way. Doable for sure, but I still have reservations about this team, it's ability to execute consistently at the level required to produce those 8 W's, and the coaching. Gonna be a tough, tough battle the rest of the way as the only other cupcake left on the schedule (there really are no cupcakes in the NFL), is a home game against this pathetic 9er team...

Only teams I see as playoff locks are Minnesota, Green Bay, & Seattle.

Falcons tend to start out very hot, but collapse midway. Defense is still horrible, BUT they do got more weapons outside of Julio & Freeman now. Panthers have flaws at critical spots, too.

I still like the Giants to represent their division despite how good Wentz & Dak are looking right now.

Rams look okay now, but I expect Jeff Fisher to do what Jeff Fisher does best & that is finish 7-9.

We'll see... let's just somehow scratch out a W against a team (the Jets) that are significantly better coached and more talented than the Whiners... [emoji106]

Well we did not pass ourselves to death again, 11-27 a good thing - now people are calling for another power back like Penny? What the hell are you thinking? HAHA- lets get more than 20 rb rushes 2 weeks in a row before we worry about that! AE is a NFL starter, not a bell cow like DJ, but a damn good quick fast running back. BA might even design a play for him.

WE need to be great at a couple run plays - repeatedly - were getting there - not ok at 20 different run plays! WE beat the Niners down in the first half, in the run game - then threw them down and had our way with them! to physically take a team from point A to point B entirely and efficiently against their will it was I seen tonight- it is out of Cards character.

Ok somewhere in there I seen the 9ers offense look over at chip Kelly's play call signs, then re-set off sides- The refs called it on the cards and gave the Cards D a 5yard penalty- Damndest thing I ever saw - anybody see that? whom on the Cards was off sides?

I think the team was really focused tonight, they knew they were missing their leader in CP. They knew it would take a team effort to win a division game on the road (never easy) despite how bad the 49ers are playing. I hope they keep that focus when CP returns. If they do we'll see the Cards of last year and that's a tough team to beat.

Hopefully, we won't see him again, but I thought that while Drew Stanton did a good job managing the game, but it seemed to me that he should do better. He has a strong arm, is mobile, has good size. Something is missing, resulting in high passes, which expose his receivers to big hits. BA said he was hurrying his throws, and maybe he was too amped up. His stats were awful, except for the turnover category. He's been in the League for a long time, and the coaches (for 10 years) must see something.

When your backup beats another team's starter, it bodes well for your backup. Stanton's current record with the team is 6-3 and people still bash him, never understand it. He is our backup for a reason, but he wins.

Bruh....

Seattle Blows, and we will sweep them AGAIN this year. The inertia of the Rams start will take us past 7-9 for the first time in 10 years. Fisher was quoted last night as saying that Goff is now ready, with that shyte eating grin that he does when being sneaky, when talking about the timing of his replacing Keenum with the #1 overall pick. He may still struggle, but the arm talent and smarts are there, which will win us more games in the end that riding Case Keenum to the end. If we win this week, I would call us a lock to make the playoffs.

Btw...Last nights game seemed like a dumpsterfire to me..but then again, the Cards were rolling without Palmer and any win on the road is a good win..So, congrats.;)

That would be vintage Fisher, hot team everything working hey let's make a QB change and put a rookie in.

I think we can all agree the 49ers are not good so beating them is not something to crow about but losing to them, badly, is even worse.

Dumpster fire. Like 28-0.

Hope you're right about you beating Seattle twice.

Because we win despite his extreme flaws.
