Seriously? I'm getting pop ups that I have to subscribe to read any articles. Anyone else noticing this? I wonder if other papers are going to start doing this.

I don't notice because if you get the paper, the web content is included in it.

Print media is dying.

Yes I noticed it too, that sucks for us out of town fans. I have figured out a trick that works sometimes: hit the X button to stop loading the page just before it's finished, and it allowed me to read some articles before the pop-up came up.

I haven't reached my 20 article limit yet, but I read that if you just delete your cookies/cache, it'll reset the count.

Sando had a funny announcement on this in his Daily Breakdown (or whatever it's called) the other day: I've apparently reached the amount of articles that I can read for the month without paying.

You'd think ESPN would pony up for access to the local papers.

I think they allow 20 free article reads a month. To get around that, use firefox 'private browsing' or chrome 'incognito' mode.

We should just keep creating our own content on this board. It's usually more insightful than what Bovin or Bickley provide anyway. Save your 20 per month for Somers.

They have been talking about doing this for months. Read it on a different device or as someone suggested.... just don't read their crap. It is usually crap anyways.

If they want more money, hire competent journalists. Whoops, there aren't any.

But yeah, 30 bucks a month now for 'the rag'. Billed monthly, so now they can raise the prices more often and you won't notice it as much because it isn't a 3 month raise increase, but a one month raise increase. I.E. Instead of going from say 68 to 80 dollars for the subscription they can just raise it from 30-34 and it doesn't 'seem' as much.

Really the only reason to get it is the sports page and the fry's electronics ad that comes on friday. Everything else is useless and written by complete morons (or sourced in nationally which was written by morons).

Thanks for the tips, the "hit the x before loaded" thing works! Living in Syracuse, I used to have to feed my Cards habit by buying a bunch of season preview mags and hoping to catch the 10 second high lite from Sports Center. Then came the Internet and Asfn and Az Republic became my addictions. Not a lot of Cards fans in 'Cuse so I have to scratch my itch however I can. I still buy every season preview available even though they almost all have the same info. Sad really...

Just stop reading their articles. They'll get the hint.

Bingo. The surest way to lose customers is to alienate them. Especially when your product isn't the most competitive and uses obsolete distribution.

It was common sense anyways. There will always be a way around the 20 free views as long as it exists. Too many ways to reset it.

It's not really an azcentral thing as it is a Gannett thing. They've been doing it with a number of their online news sites.
