As I said in the other thread:

Like it or not Owings was / is average at best. He was one of the fan favorites because of his hitting ability. But as a pitcher he has been very sub-par, if not awful. I had really high hopes for Owings but don't foresee a Quentin situation.

Plus, since Dunn is going to walk, don't the Dbacks essentially receive 2 1st round picks in this deal? So you're basically trading Owings / Buck / ??? for 2 1st round picks and Dunn for the rest of the year. Not a bad way to rebuild the farm system. The Dbacks are LOADED with picks this year.

Owings was offered in the Texiera deal, Buck was as well so it would seem as though the D'Backs gave Owings the "Kiss of Death" when they sent him down to AAA. Hopefully, the last player isn't Chad Tracy.

One note on Dunn and FA, I mentioned before because Dunn is making 13 million this year, an arbitrator could award him a salary of 15 million if offered arbitration by AZ, he would probably jump on it unless he has his heart set on somewhere else, like HOU where he is from.

The novelty of having a power hitting pitcher wore off after April when he failed to produce consistently at the plate, which was hiding his pitching flaws. Now he cant hit nor pitch. Micah was expendable. Plus remember, we have Max Scherzer, who will be 90 times the pitcher Micah is
