Speculation that future Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith would retire isn’t anything new to the league’s all-time leading rusher. The Dallas Cowboys organization expected him to hang up his cleats after he broke the record in 2002 and remain with the organization in some other capacity. Instead, Smith opted to sign a two-year contract with the Cardinals, a former divisional rival of the Cowboys.

He's absolutely invaluable as a third down back for us. It's refreshing to see a star athlete accept a backup role to help the team. Glad he'll be going out with his chin up.

Emmitt is a great blitz-picker-upper.

Believe it or not, Thomas Jones was good at it too. Garrison Hearst would punish guys as well.

As opposed to Michael Pittman who is a great wife beater-upper.

Cold, but accurate!

Funny in a sick sick way.
Here's to all the wife beaters getting the cosmic karma they deserve.
I hope a bus falls on him.

Concur! Jones would drill the blitzer. I also thought he showed great potential as a receiver out of the backfield. If he wasn't so expensive I think he would of made a good third down back.

You're damn right I understand my role, hype Sean Taylor, Mike Williams and Drew Henson, bash Jake Plummer and argue with Vikes Fan!

Oh you meant EMMITT Smith.... nevermind :)

Who would you rather have in the backfield on 3rd down?

Marcell or a healthy Damien Anderson.

Marcell is by far a better reciever and isnt a liability in blitz pick up any longer.

Damien Anderson if completely healthy is more talented than Emmitt at this point in his career.
