Really good interview, it mostly focused on his time with Colts last season. Some highlights:

He talked about the phone call between him and Pagano when he found out about the leukemia.

Very close with his son, it meant a lot when he came the week of the Colts Packers game to be there with him

He leaned on the veteran leadership heavily last year (Freeny and Mathis) to get the job done, basically what he said during his presser in PHX.

Didn't think his chance for HC would come after not getting interest after Super Bowl XLIII

Said he wouldn't take just any job. He believes in AZ and wants to being championship to valley.

Talked about coaching under Bear Bryant and how it was a learning experience everyday.

Talked a little bit about running the no huddle in Indy.

Overall he just seems like a good guy, very down to earth and grounded. It was a good interview, but Rome didn't spend too much time asking him about the Cardinals.

We don't get CBS sports radio in PHX. I guess you can listen online.

Wow. I didn't know that Rome was off the air in Phoenix. That ish cray. My dad must be p.o.'d.

He moved to CBS sports radio, which I guess is fairly new, and they don't have an affiliate in Phoenix. Jay Mohr took over his old show which is on Xtra 910 from 10am-noon.

Yeah... I'd heard the promos for Mohr and idly noted the time, which seemed weird to me. I usually listen to Kemp when I'm listening to the radio in the morning. I haven't listened to Rome in years and years (kind of started getting interested in the "Sports" side of "sports talk").

then don't listen to Jay Mohr. I've listened twice and it's bad, very bad.

Can't be any worse than Burns and Gambo.

Believe it or not, it is.

How the hell is it possible that we have 3 local sports talk stations, and NONE of them has a locally-hosted morning show any more? That's NUTS. We get nothing but network talk in the morning. Somebody needs to fix this.

Glad for the info, but I'm sorry you had to listen to that schmuck Rome to get it. I cannot stand that guy. His style is to say the same things five or six times, in an authoritative voice, with big dramatic pauses in between. Wash, rinse, repeat, boring.

If I didn't know this thread was referencing Jim Rome, I'd swear you would be describing Colin Cowherd there.

Pretty much the same thing. Our local switched from ESPN to CBS and the morning show sucks. It has Tiki Barber, some guy and a chick. Really bad.

I actually could not agree more. Every time I think of him though, I just picture that video when he got the table flipped on him.

Cowherd is annoying but is at least articulate, occasionally funny and intelligent. Rome brings nothing to the table but a horrific goatee and bitchiness.

ESPN has a bunch of guys like that - Skip Bayless, Stephen A. Smith and the two point/counterpoint argue-ers. Makes me thankful for my remote (especially the Mutant button).
