Finally watched this with dcr Saturday. Holy cow...so boring. When the Japanese girl told the police officer to wait a minute, I said, "she's going to come out naked." I hate movies that are that blatantly predictable.

I didn't care about any of the characters--any of them. I was only mildly interested to see how the Japanese family tied in, but really--so what? The GIRL really had nothing to do with it at all. She had no tie-in; it was just her dad that was connected to the story. It was just stupid. Blah.

Im not trying to speak for anyone but myself.. But I dont think movies should be anything but entertainment.. They are movies, not meant to teach me something.. And definitly the actors/directors/or whoever wins an award for a movie should get up and preach to me.. Your just an entertainer dude.. The self worth of some of these actors is appaulling to me.. And if a movie feels the need to cram down some kinda life lesson down my throat I toss it right out the dvd player into the trash.. Entertain me man.. I have enuff crap in my life to worry about on a daily basis to worry about what some coke heads skewed mind came up for me to watch..

Guess this is why I hate Hollywood so much.. Their uppity ways while getting DUI's and coke habits.. But hey, give them a national stage, then theyll tell you how you should live your life and how to treat others..

Screw that, I aint on drugs ya freak .. And I wasnt aware that when I pressed play on my dvd player it was anvenue for you to tell me how to live.. You are there to be entertainment..

So to sum it all up, I wont be watching Babel.. lol

With all due respect, I think you are Mixing the actor's lives & politics with
the substance of the movies. Movies are entertainment but they are also an art form. Even the most standard entertaining "blockbuster" movies through the ages have had a subtle message or undertones. Hey, even bugs bunny cartoons had a political message but were the funniest thing out when I was a kid.
This movie IMHO is not your standard political movie but more of the human spirit...it is much deeper than that. It transcends politics. Great movie by the way.

I thought it was just fine. You mean to tell me that you have never predicted the ending of a movie, or when you know something is going to happen? You must hate 90% of the movies Hollywood comes out with.

Where did I say that I have never predicted the ending of a movie?

I said I hate when they are that blatantly predictable...especially when it's supposed to be all dramatic & crap.

By the end of XXX last night I was pretty damn bored because anyone that has ever watched it knew that the "bomb" wasn't going to go off. But the rest of the movie was okay.

Yes, most movies are predictable. Yes, I dislike that about most movies. No, that doesn't taint the entire movie for me. This was one example of why I didn't enjoy the entire movie. I gave other reasons, too.

I won't watch Titanic again. Can't watch the mom telling her kids the story, or the dead babies in the water. Can't do it.

Stupid iceberg.

You do know that was all fake right? There really were no movie cameras on the boat when it went down I promise. :)

Yes, but I don't doubt that similar (and worse) happened. Children in peril upsets me too much to watch, especially when grounded in reality.

None of that really happened. There were no children on the boat. That was done for dramatic effect! :titanic:
