Ill still take him #29

RITGTB

Im not thrilled with the prospects at #29. If I have the choice between a solid guy/bust or a superstar/bust, ill take the latter.

That would be foolish. Did you see the injury? Very similar to Lattimores injury & we know how that turned out. if the reports are true he's likely going to have a very short career & will likely drop to the 3rd or 4th round.

IMO you draft with the future of your franchise in mind instead of a what your gut says.

Watching the interview with Jaylon at the combine was tough. It was the first time I had seen anything of him outside of game action. He is really well spoken and was very positive. I will be pulling for him regardless of what team he ends up on. Just so hard to watch players like him, Lattimore and Nick Chubb suffer these devastating injuries before they get a chance to fulfill their dreams in the NFL. Lets hope Smith and Chubb have a more successful road back than Marcus!

Jaylon had a freak hyperextension under his own bodyweight, Lattimores knee folded backwards. They weren't similar, which is why I have hope for Jaylon. As far as knee injuries go, his didn't look nearly as bad as others.

I think he goes in the 2nd round, so if we want him, its gotta be 1st round. 'Reports' mean nothing. Most of it is smoke of teams trying to move guys up and down the draft board. Like one team scout saying "Mackensie Alexander is overrated, hes a late day 2 guy". Yeah, sure he is. Hes probably in their top 10 and they pick late teens.

Like you said "you draft for the future of your franchise". Jaylon may not play 2016, but 2017 forward, he may be the best player on our defense, that kid is a special talent. That's what you call drafting for the future.

Noone on this board can speak to his medical situation. Its just hearsay.

I also think he is probably too early in the healing process for any of the doctors to make any definite conclusions. That is why there seems to be so many varying opinions among the medical examiners. Hopefully they will be able to see progress before the draft. He's a game changer when healthy!

It all comes down to what our medical staff says. If it's nerve damage, take a flyer in 4th round. For those saying take a gamble earlier . . . you have to understand that you're not buying what he did in the past, you're banking on what you project him to do in the future. And that projection has to take into account what your medical staff, you know . . . professionals . . . tell you.

I think the Pats move up to early round 2 and take him.

Does Vegas do over unders on where a player will be drafted? If so, Smith would be an interesting one to watch the line on.

Jaylon will return to Indianapolis for the injury recheck process in early April before the draft.

This will be a very important check point and happens before the draft.

Sent scout friend a text asking about Smith's injury. He said it's bad but not sure of the true prognosis yet.

If that's the case and it scares off enough teams, that would be amazing if he fell to 29. Even if he missed part of this year....
