if the Cards lose in the 1st round, how many fans will jump ship next season? I'm a Pats fan myself, but I've been pulling for the Cardinals since the 90's and I'd hate to see their fan-base desert them

Cardinal fans won't jump ship after a playoff appearance and division winning season. This is like a dream to most of us.

All I know is all the posters on this site will never abandon the Cards. Many of them have been through the lean years. Rooting for this team means taking your vows as a fan seriously.

Win or lose, we bleed cardinal-red.

Even drawing a last breath can seperate a Card fan from their love for the team. We still honor and recognize those who have gone on before us.

I'm sure there will be some hit, but the Cards are still too new to the post season to have a mass desertation like you are thinking. Of course, some fans are fickle and will leave as soon as there is a loss, but I don't think there will be a major impact.

I almost feel guilty for pointing this out, as it's actually pretty humorous, but it's "site" as in website-BIM

Let's be realistice. No team can gurantee back-t-back visits to SB not even Championship game. I am a relatively new fan 4 years now, this year goal for me was to get back to playoffs. Pre-season and first few games probably did not indicate we'll go that far. At the moment anything can happen but I'll be still a cardinal - can't wait for next season.

Eh, doesn't matter. That type of fandom means they'll be back round again eventually.
A small % of those drawn in by recent success will become lifelongers and those are the ones that count.

I am firmly glued to the wagon my friend. Wish I can say the same about some of my friends and people I sit next to at the games, but welcome to Phoenix: land of the fair weathers.

In this town where everyone is from somewhere else it is hard to build a solid fanbase. I am sure there will be some that jump off the wagon screaming "same old Cardinals" if we lose in the first round. However you will always have that and it will be marginal at best.

:yeahthat: They sucked me in 35 years ago at the begining of success in St. Lou as a 10 year old boy & thru a broken TV, several flung remotes, countless headaches & millions of cuss words I remained loyal. The fruits of patience have finally paid off!!! It's easy to walk away when things go bad, but takes a strong allegance to stay loyal. Hats off to all BIG RED fans past & present.

My sentiments exactly. Fan for as long as you. It is never easy being a Cards fan.

I tried to quit this team for good after the Buddy Ryan disaster. Then, I watch an interview of Vince Tobin in August of that year. The next day, I drive down and pay for season tickets. Back then, season tickets were 20% off if you bought them by June, so that cost me some money.

I now know I'm a hopeless Cards addict. Bad years, good years, it don't matter. If I ever doubt that, I can just remember I bought tickets because VINCE TOBIN (Mr. Bland himself) got me pumped for a new season. :doi:

At the risk of feeding what may be a troll...

I don't care if people jump off the bandwagon. I don't care if this town ignores the Cards for years to come. They're locked into a long term contract at the stadium, so I'll be going to the games for years to come. My daughters will be going. My grandchildren will be going. Everything else is icing on the cake.

Going to the games is LESS enjoyable than when the Cards sucked.
Now stupid corporate crap takes up space on the great lawn, it feels crowded in the stadium.
I actually miss the 1/2 full SDS days.
In fact - I'm giving away my last 2 reg season tix to a couple friends that have never been to the new stadium.

WINNING will ALWAYS draw attention...

BUT, being a TRUE fan is something that gets in your BLOOD!:) Regardless of HOW successful or unsuccessful you were the previous year, you're raring to go the following year. For a TRUE fan there is NEVER an END! The "seasons" are simply "moments" in time. A tapestry woven together! As for the band-wagoners?? EVERYONE luvs' a feel-good vibe. IF the "vibe" goes, so do those fans. They're off to find their "next" one. GO CARDS!! :D NOTE: My faded Jim Hart Cardinal jersey from SEARS still hangs in my closet/ and sometimes on my sports "wall".

I've been a cards fan my whole life, just don't post on here often, as you could probably tell. I live in Jefferson City Mo and Cardinal fans around here have long been gone since the move to Phoenix, but there are a few of us still left. I did stroll into the local Tj Max today to do some last minute Christmas shopping and I came across 5 Levi Brown Jerseys for $13 a piece. I was in shock to find a Cards jersey period there, but Levi Brown? Well I'm the proud owner of a Levi Brown Jersey today. Merry Christmas!!
