Barcelona director shifts focus to the renewal of forward with 14 G/A this season

Since the turn of the year, Barcelona have been hard at work trying to tie down the future of their key players, whose contracts expire soon.

The club have already announced key deals involving the likes of Gavi, Pedri, Ronald Araujo and more recently, Inigo Martinez.

Barcelona sporting director Deco, in that regard, has played a crucial role and his next goal is to start extending contracts of players, whose deals expire in 2027.

Some of these names include the likes of Raphinha, Jules Kounde and Ferran Torres. While Barcelona have already started some form of talks with the first two, negotiations with Torres have not yet been held. But that is about to change soon.

According to MARCA, Deco has noted down the name of Ferran Torres in his diary and work will begin soon to try and renew the contract of the former Man City forward.

Deco is aware that Hansi Flick considers Ferran a vital piece of his attacking unit, even though the Spaniard has struggled to establish himself as a first-team starter at the club.

Ferran has often been useful off the bench while his flexibility, versatility and tactical knowledge of the game, make him an ideal component in Barcelona’s frontline.

Despite playing a limited role at the club, Ferran has racked up 11 goals in all competitions this season, along with three assists, which speaks volumes about his productivity in the final third.

Moreover, the former Valencia prodigy has shown immense desire and commitment to continue at Barcelona. That is why the club are certain about renewing the player’s contract beyond 2027.

This comes amid recent speculation linking Ferran with a move to Villarreal. But it appears the Spanish forward is here to stay.
