Some of you are ridiculous. I'm sure you know exactly what's going on between D'antoni and the Suns. (Sarver.)

According to Kerr they asked that he bring in a defensive assistant. D'antoni, for whatever reason, doesn't agree. So they're letting him look elsewhere. He's in demand so it's a almost a guarantee that another team will give him a contract. Would YOU throw away 9 million? NO! So it's flat out dumb to call Sarver cheap.

I honestly think they'd rather keep him anyways. He's still better than most of the alternatives. They'd just force him to bring in a defensive assistant.

The Suns are being smart in this process. It's absolutely ******** to just dump D'antoni and eat his contract. If someone else wants to take him, then fine. Let him go and recoup 9 million in the process. If for some reason another team doesn't offer him a deal, then he's back with a new assistant that preaches defense. D'antoni will just have to get over his hissy fit and change things up a bit. HOW is this a bad thing?

You all act like you would be perfectly fine throwing a match on 9 million dollars. I guess it's pretty easy to be an armchair GM / owner.

I agree with this. If D'Antoni wants to hold the Suns hostage, then we hold him hostage. With D'Antoni as a coach next year, we'll get 36 wins as we'll attract no FAs, the players will have no confidence in him, and he'll be half-assing it. His allure will diminish and his suitors will look elsewhere. It's not smart on Mike's part to play Russian Roullette with his "legacy"....

Yeah if the suns conduct themselves this way, ONLY vinny del negro will want to coach here. When you conduct yourself like a butthole in business, nobody worth a crap wants to do business with you.

The fact that scott skiles walked with millions is actually good for the bulls future prospects in hiring a coach. Coaches out there have seen how organizations have screwed over guys (LB/Knicks etc), and the bulls have treated their employees well when they leave. The suns can become another knicks organization, only without the money to pay a good coach, yeah that'd be real stupid.

I think suns fans have evaluated this owner outside this event. He wouldnt sign JJ for 6/50, but signed Diaw for 5/45. He also signed Marcus Banks for 5/25, but wouldnt sign TT for anything over 4/12. He unloaded a #1 and JR(3mil) for nothing in return and sells #1's, like Luol Deng for a few mil cash. This owner has a track record, like it or not, thats says stupid if not cheap. Just read the simmons article, and ask yourself what you expect out of all this?

Most of what you just gave as examples were D'antoni moves. While I don't like selling picks, Sarver essentially had too because of the terrible contracts he has. (Thanks to GM D'antoni.) Yes, he had to sign off on them, but these were D'antoni moves.

Sarver apology #501, "he had to sell the picks", he had to give away 2 #1's to get rid of an expiring contract(KT). Yeah, well the lakers management use an expiring contract(kwami) to get pau gasol in return. And dont tell me that getting rid of KT was DA's idea, it just makes you look like an even bigger apologist for sarver AND Kerr.

If D'Antoni wanted to get fired, he could just bad mouth Sarver and explain it wasn't his idea to trade Joe Johnson or Kurt Thomas or the litany of draft picks.

Publicly throw Sarver under the bus. Im sure New York would still hire him.

Dont kid yourself, badmouthing the boss is a fatal error in corporate america, especially when you make the big bucks. Very few coaches bad mouth ownership, cant think of one example who still has a job.

Didn't Van Gundy bad mouth the Rockets?

I wonder what "Lets Go!" sounds like coming from the broadcast booth.

He doesnt have a coaching job does he? With the knicks, bulls, bucks, and mavs, all hiring, he didnt even get an interview. He wont get one from the suns either. Any others?

^Ridiculous, right this Suns team with Dantoni will only get 36 wins, thats just dumb. The Dantoni hate on this board is just absurd. If anyone thinks a new coach is gonna come in and win more games than Dantoni with the current players is being nieve.

Ok, if you think that D'Antoni coming back next year won't lead to major chemistry issues and team turmoil, then you are delusional. We'd have a major player or two griping and wanting to get out of here. It would be a veritable soap opera....

...says Charles as he's hops off Wades coat tails just long enough to cash his no doubt ridiculous TNT checks. :D

Can't blame D'Antonio for not turning his back on 9 mil.

Can't fault Charles for calling it like it is.

They will no doubt settle somewhere in the middle of the road.

I would've quit if I were in the same scenario. D'Antoni's not hurting for money.

LOL

ya you'd just give up 9 million whether or not he's hurting for money 9 mill is 9 mill man..

Antoni have the balls to quit, but $arver too cheap to fire him.

Prime example for the $arver is cheap bid.

Who in their right mind would walk away from $9 million guaranteed?

Alas, $arver is about to be bailed out of that quandry anyway.

Are you serious? 8.5 million is a lot of money. Sarver would be stupid to fire D'Antoni and lose all that. Come on.

Sarver is cheap my ass. That has nothing to do with cheapness. You wouldn't give away 8.5 million either.

No kidding! I love how people all talk BS about how they would be honorable or manly and walk away from 9 mil when most would sell their grandmothers for far less.

I don't agree with 36 wins, but there would be unrest on the team all season and D'Antoni would be in a worse position than a lame duck.

It's to his advantage to accept another job and resign.

One year's salary for one year's work. Tsk Tsk.
