I hope no one is surprised that the Suns got the short hand of the stick with these suspensions and fines. We all should know by now that he will go above and beyond to make sure that the Phoenix Suns always get shafted when it comes to these decisions. Steeldog is right in the sense that Stern is becoming more arrogant and dictatorlike every single season. His decisions and policies are becoming more and more questionable. And its a foregone conclusion that he has his favorite teams and favorite players. This is why more people are tuning off the NBA. Personally, I am still a Suns fan, but I will never be a fan of the NBA as long as David Stern presides as commish.

I am with you on this. I haven't really watched any games except the Suns. It's kind of sad really since I was once a rabid NBA fan. The NBA, where fan apathy happens.

I wish i can watch the game again, Barnes claimed Alston hit him in the groin in the first half while driving to the basket, if this is true i don't blame Barnes for giving him the shoulder.

I give thanks to the Gods of Basketball that we have Barnes. I'm sick and tired of the lack of respect our team gets. At least we have someone that isn't going to take it. That alone should keep him from signing with this team; not much fight in guys like LB, Boris and Goran who are the future of the team. Though I don't enjoy 'thuggery', I can't stand pansies.

BTW, Mojorizen - That video of the Rams' front office made my day. I haven't laughed that hard in weeks!

I agree Barnes is a keeper. We need to lock him up. I wish he was on the team when Horry cheap shotted Nash. He may have beaten the crap out of him and immediately go in the ring of honor

Suns general manager Steve Kerr said the Suns will appeal the decision by the NBA to suspend forward Matt Barnes two games and guard Steve Nash one game.

An appeal won't be heard in time to prevent Barnes or Nash from missing game action but it might save their fines, as well as Shaquille O'Neal's. Commissioner David Stern acts as arbiter for the appeal hearings.
Kerr was also dismayed by the rulings, noting that Rafer Alston threw a left hook at Nash later in the fray. Kerr said he asked whether Nash's track record as a representative of the league and upstanding citizen was taken into account.

He said Stern told him, "Hey, Rudy T (Tomjanovich) was a great guy too but we'd suspend him too if he ran across the court."
"Everything stems from the Rudy incident (a 1977 game fight that Tomjanovich ran toward and had his face fractured by a Kermit Washington punch) and the Ron Artest incident (the 2005 Detroit-Indiana brawl in which Artest went after a fan in the stands)," Kerr said in relation to punishments for altercations.

Kerr said he was also told by NBA executive vice president Stu Jackson that Barnes would have only received a flagrant foul, level two, had Alston not charged at him.

I think there's your answer right there. Nash's track record as an outspoken independent mind, willing to embrace controversial views, is what was taken into account.

There was some tension between them for a while. I didnt see the groin hit but barnes' shoulder attack was definitely provoked from previous plays.

Stern needs to go and the Suns need to toughen up. Sign Barnes today.
