UofA was in arguably the toughest regional, took a game from Fullerton, but then lost two to them. Something tells me ASU would have been swept out of the UA regional, if not, certainly would not have made it out. Congrats, ASU, for being the next team to get beat by that Fullerton team.

Pffft. Fooey on youey tooooey!!!!! GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DEVVVVVVVVVILLLSS GOOOOOOOOO!

Congrats to you for being yet another UofA cronie proven wrong. Dead wrong. Just because the University of Nogales can't get by Fullerton doesn't mean the Devils won't.

Congrats to the Devils...I didn't think they'd do it.

It is nice to see the Pac 10 still going, even if it is the Devils.

Pat Murphy produces very tough, hard-nosed, smart players who don't quit. Pedroia, Gosewich, Urquidez, all those guys have learned to will themselves to win over the odds, stay focused on the thing that needs to be done next, and they make the absolute most of whatever talents and tools they have.

I was very impressed with Urquidez in this series, and wish we could get him in the DBacks bullpen now.

I loved when the announcer said they were walking Curtis to get to a lefty-righty match-up, and the other guy said - "To get to Gosewich!? They really want to pitch to Gosewich? Man, match-up or not, I'm not sure I'd do that..."

Congratulations Sun Devils!! Was great seeing Fullerton's faces so glum for a change.

Looks like their killer regular season schedule paid off. They way they came back, not just from the game on Friday, but in the whole series, was amazing. I am so proud of this team.

I hope the Phillies have been watching their 11th round pick this year...Gosewich has just been phenomenal the past few weeks. What a clutch player.

I have to confess I watched my first college baseball game from beginning to end today because my brother (like many on this board apparently) has jumped on the ASU bandwagon. Congrats to ASU, way to represent the Pac. Does any money come UofA's way for this? I know conferences get money for the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

But I have to comment on the sport of college baseball. Well, I was going to call it the most boring sporting event I had ever seen but then I watched the second half of the NBA Finals. I thought that guy on Fullerton popped out to the 1B and next thing I know the ball went about 400 feet. WTF is that? Not to mention all the running around and everything it was like a Little League game. I'd really prefer watching college women's softball because at least there's the occasional piece of ass that will pop up on the screen. End rant.

Or maybe I just don't get it.

Murphy's teams have never played the role of favorite well in the postseason. And, they have been owned by the Titan's. But, as an underdog, against their toughest opponent, they really played like champs. It's even better considering how tough of a loss game 1 was. They could've folded their tent and not gotten a lot of heat this year, but they didn't. It's the proudest I've been of the team in a long time. Even more than when they played USC for the championship several years ago.

You are so right. Props to you for watching the whole game. I couldn't sit through the whole thing.

How is it that the USC-OSU game was in the third inning when the ASU game ended but was still on when I flipped back to ESPN 2 after watching Meet the Fockers whcih ended at 10:00 p.m.

My wife still wants to know why I even follow the sport of college baseball. She somehow never heard of anyone following the sport. Too funny.

I think the college game would be better if they used wooden bats but it would cost money. I wonder if there is any college player that uses a wooden bat?

They use wooden bats in some of the college-player summer leagues - Cape Cod League, I think, for ex. But of course have to use aluminum in regular NCAA play. Plink! Plink! (First time I followed a college game was on radio - took me about half an inning to realize the 'plink' wasn't the announcers toasting each hit with bottles of beer.)

I actually enjoy the college game - there is a Little-League quality of youthful exuberance at times, but then again you get to see kids really show what they can become - Huston Street last year, there was just no question after the CWS what he was. I am thinking we're getting a glimpse of the future Urquidez, too.

Was Urquidez picked by the Dbacks?
