That's a weird quote although he never addresses whether he or another coach tipped off the umps or not. In that situation, the only reason I can think of where an ump would make that call is if the pitcher was balking frequently prior to the call or someone said something to the ump. Very bizarre ending.

Do you know anything about baseball? Watch the replay, he did not come set therefore it was a balk. The timing of it was what made it a bad call.

He brought his hands set, then came to the plate. It wasn't a long stop, but it was CLEARLY a stop. I know you hate ASU, but try to be objective, no one, even the ex MLBer that was in the broadcast booth, thought that was a balk.

But I'm sure YOU know best. :biglaugh:

What a joke.

Who's not being objective here? The guy who won't clearly acknowledge the play even when there's visual evidence to the contrary or the guy who acknowledges the rules violation but says it was a garbage call. The call was pure BS in that situation but that does not take away from the fact that technically it was a balk.

It's like calling a hand check with two seconds left in a tie game in the NBA Finals. Yeah, the call was correct if you're going by the book but that doesn't necessarily make it a good call. Not admitting that it was a balk just shows either pure homerism or baseball ignorance. You can choose what category you belong in.

It is Bottom 8 of Game 2 and I just saw the replay of the balk for the first time. What a joke.

I thought ASU was going to choke there in the 9th until CSF hit into the double play.

6-2 ASU. Team showed a lot of heart after last night.

Maybe some fans will get off of Murphy's back now.

Yeah, they showed a lot of guts. Can they get yet another gem out of their pitchers today?

Oreogon State held on to beat USC last night -

Was my blood sugar dangerously low, or did I see that Oregon St. scored three runs without getting a hit?

And, they got screwed on the first call of the inning too, that ball was foul IMO.

They have replayed it numerous times and I think it was fair...very close either way.

I did not like the balk call at all.

Devils hang tough and win Saturday - good for them!

It's possible. USC made eight errors in the game.

Wow. Now there's a sentence I never thought I would read...unless it was the University of Southern Connecticut or something. Geez.

UofA was in arguably the toughest regional, took a game from Fullerton, but then lost two to them. Something tells me ASU would have been swept out of the UA regional, if not, certainly would not have made it out. Congrats, ASU, for being the next team to get beat by that Fullerton team.

Congrats to you for being yet another UofA cronie proven wrong. Dead wrong. Just because the University of Nogales can't get by Fullerton doesn't mean the Devils won't.

That sucks. Don't they localize coverage at all?
