Kelly (TE) out for Sunday...........Dillon is questionable (and reading between the lines I think he'll be a scratch).

Kelly is out... that causes no concern. One thing we have is solid depth in TE. Matt Schobel and Tony Stewart can easily fill in for Kelly. Kelly is a better run blocker than the two, but our running game has been struggling anyway. Our other TE are used in passing situations, but Schobel can fill in for the run game. No problem here.

Dillon being out of the game is do to one reason. Let him get healthy during our easy part of the schedule and get him ready for the Chiefs. The Bengals feel pretty confident that they can win this game win Rudi Johnson and our passing game. We beat the Seahawks with them.

Not to worry friends... The Bengals will be ready for Sunday.

I trust that your comment that the Bengals feel pretty confident that they can win this game is your opinion and not that of the team...........cuz if the team really think this way, this a sure fire way to lose.

Let's be honest here..........your team is improving but the win against Seattle was not because you are better but rather because you won the TO battle by 5-0.......and you just squeaked by as it was.

Oh, and one more thing, Dillon is hurt and yes needs the rest in order to get back into action healthy and not with lingering aches and pains ......not because he isn't needed because this is your so called easy part of the schedule.

I would not put too much hope on a rookie RB whose claim to fame is one game with 101 yards rushing and 3 TD's. The 3 TD's is nice but 101 yds. rushing won't cause any team to stack eight men in the box to stop the rush. Rudi Johnson is no Priest Holmes or Deuce McAllister.........to be honest, he'd be 4th on our depth chart behind Shipp, Anderson and Scobey.

Have you watched the kid play in order to make that statement? It's not like last week was his first acrry - he's done a pretty good job of spelling Dillon all season long - and to say he'd be foruth on our depth chart - when he has already had a 100 yard game against a tough Seattle defense is just flat out ridiculous.

I'm not attempting to talk trash here, so don't get me wrong.

No... I hope that isn't the team’s attitude. I think that it plays in the scheduling of things though in the back of the coaches minds. We have a better chance of winning against you guys than we do against others in our schedule. Am I wrong? I'm confident that Marvin Lewis will instill a level of urgency with his team to get the job done.

Let's be honest here..........your team is improving but the win against Seattle was not because you are better but rather because you won the TO battle by 5-0.......and you just squeaked by as it was.

The defense is part of the team. If a defense can cause turnovers, than that makes the team better right? The turnovers weren't stupid plays on Seattle’s part, but they were caused by an aggressive defense. Seattle is a better team offensively. That is why we squeaked by. Their defense couldn't stop our offense and our defense was better in that they caused turnovers. When they didn’t cause turnovers they scored. This is where the Bengals need to get better. Without those turnovers we would have lost. But turnovers are part of the game. If you can cause them you will win. And that makes you a better team.

Do you guys have trouble turning over the ball?

" Do we have trouble turning over the ball"......actually we are pretty darn good at it.

I am the last person to become antagonistic.......the regulars here know me as a "moderate". My points to your post were simply to make sure you are cautious in your assessment as to just how good the "new Bengals" are.

...but I'd rather see more of Dillon and less of Rudi Johnson.

If Seattle's defense is tough, then so is the Cardinals'.

Seattle is 12th in Total Defense and we are 15th. Seattle surrenders 310 YPG, AZ 314. Seattle has given up 808 rushing yards this season, AZ 811. Seattle gives up 115.4 rushing YPG, AZ 115.9. Seattle gives up 4.0 YPC, AZ 3.7. Seattle has given up 8 rushing TD's, AZ 5.

So either the Cardinals have a "tough defense" like Seattle's or getting 100 yards rushing against the Seahawks isn't that impressive.

I think where our defense gets a raw deal is with the overall points given up. I think our -14 T/O ratio makes evryone think the Cards D gave up all those points which is not so...The Cards Defense has played quite well the last 2 games...

I was thinking the same thing. I just forgot to mention it in my last post. In a lot of those games the offense gave the other team the ball deep in our end.

Plus we have had a punt returned for a TD, a blocked punt returned for a TD and a couple of INT's run back for scores.

We Bengal’s fans aren't used to this type of game play producing wins. I could see how fans would get over confident, but the others including myself are actually nervous for the exact reason you state. I would call it cautiously optimistic. I'm sure the players have been told not to let this get to their heads. I'm traveling 5 hours to see the game, so I really want to go back with a win or it will be a horrible 5 hour trip.

This game is going to be a good one. Even though I have been saying I predict a solid win for the Cards, I know in reality these teams are alot alike and that we both beat teams last week that we were not "supposed" to beat. I am not going to sit and say I have watched the Bengals play, I have not, so I really dont know what to think. But I have watch the Cards play and this team just looks different after the bye. We were committed to the run last week, we play tremendous on D, and our passing game was clean. I expect us to play similar this week and add some new stuff. I am pretty sure we can run against the Bengals and I am pretty sure our D can stop the run. Our secondary is the question mark for me. If we can continue to put pressure on the QB this week, I think our secondary will do fine. And watch out for Dex and Adrian, those boys are laying the serious hits on people and I would not be suprised to see them jar some balls loose this week and have the WR thinking twice about going over the middle. All in all I expect a very good game!

Well - Renz even though I wasn't arguing the point about our D - and was more paying attention to the point made that Rudi Johnson would be our fourth running back - way to make an issue - even though I have actually come around to the notion that our run defense is much more solid than I expected - so what exactly is your point here - that Rudi Johnson can run on our defense also?

You called the notion that Johnson would be our 4th RB "ridiculous" and then used his game against Seattle as an example, calling Seattle's defense "tough".

I was just citing some statistics that seemed to imply that Johnson being our #4 really isn't "ridiculous". I definitely would take Shipp and Anderson over Johnson and maybe Scobey as well.

My point was that just because Johnson got 115 yards against Seattle, that isn't proof that he is better than any of the RB's on our roster.

And you made an issue of it when you called spanky's assertion that Johnson would be our #4 RB "ridiculous".

If we can continue to put pressure on the QB this week

I keep hearing this... I checked your stats and I didn't see anything in the sacks column to be proud of. You are last in the NFL with 6. Are you assuming that this pressure has mysteriously appeared, or could it be that the 49ers OL didn't have a good day?

Let's hope it doesn't come down to a FG. You need to resolve the FG kicker situation.

Both. We're well aware the 49ers didn't have Deese or Heitman and that helped out Dline out. That said, we're also well aware we changed our defense last week, played both 4-3 and 3-4, did more blitzing both standard and zone blitzes, and we moved Wendell Bryant from DT to LDE and he made an impact in the run defense. We're also hoping that improved play from Dennis Johnson and Calvin Pace continues. Pace dominated fellow rookie Kwame Harris, he won't get a rookie this week but we're hoping the confidence he gained last week pays off this week.

Nobody is making us out to be the '85 Bears here pass rush is still a weakness. That's why you keep seeing IF we can get pressure again. 2 sacks may not seem like a lot but we beat up Garcia last week and got a good deal of pressure on a QB for the first time all season, we're hoping it wasn't just the 49ers. Remember the week before they beat Tampa and kept their pass rush in check.

Agreed about kicker, Duncan has a great leg but he's inconsistent, I'm not a Grammatica fan I wish we had one of those automatic to 45 yard kickers, used Duncan on KO's, and on really long attempts.

Anderson has played one game and looked good for three carries - Scobey has never played a down as an NFL running back - and this kid has gone up against defense for the last three weeks - besides Seattle's and produced - are you telling me that a kid that has proven himself so far to be a decent back . . . ah - whatever Renz - saying that guys who people have never seen play are worse than our guys - WHO HAVE NEVER PLAYED - is riduclous and homersim at it's best.

Let me ask yuou this Renz - have you seen Johnson play during this season? Now have you seen Scobey play against live defenses or Anderson play against anyone but last week or his stellar game of 20 carries for 59 yards vs. Carolina last year? I think it's ridiculous talking about players that people haven't seen play and assuming our guys are better than them simply because they are our guys (because that's all it possibly could be considering we haven't seen our guys tested in the the NFL).

I mean by saying that Johnson would be our 4th running back on a team which carries only three to start - it's basically saying that Johnson couldn't even make our roster - now don't you think that is just a tad bit ridiculous in the least?

First off, this should be a pretty good game as both teams are coming off BIG wins and are not used to winning yet.

You guys can argue about Rudi Johnson and Corey Dillon all you want as they are both good backs (Rudi wants to play and Dillon is cranky) but the guy who worries me is Chad Johnson because he is straight filthy. BengalsRule85, you know what I am talking about. This guy was big play last year and is big play this year. You can shut him out all game and he'll tear off a 85 yard TD. This worries me because in my opinion, he is the best player on the Bengals team.

As far as our defense goes, we have shown that we can slow down good running backs, but getting to the QB is still a big question. Levi Jones and Willie Anderson are both good bookends (from what I know, haven't realy seem them) so it will be tough on our ends, but Kitna shouldn't get too comfortable.

All being said, here is to getting win number three.

Chad Johnson is quickly becoming known as a big time WR. He talks a lot of trash, but he has been able to back it up. He claimed that no-one can cover him earlier this year and it has been true. He is leading the NFL in YPC with 18. He can quickly change the momentum of the game. Johnson is extremely fast and spreads the field well. Combine that with Peter Warrick and our Tight Ends and you have a good combination in the short field and in the flats. I'm not worried about the pass rush for this reason. If the rush is getting in to Kitna they will keep dumping short passes to Warrick. If any of you followed him in college, he can run well with the ball.

Kitna isn't a super star QB, but his supporting staff of receivers is making him look that way lately.

I don't think it's ridiculous to say that a guy like Rudi Johnson, who has played in 13 games in 3 years and has a total of 82 carries, might have been #4 on our depth chart behind Smith, Shipp & Anderson/Scobey.

At the very least I think it is debatable and not as cut and dried as you seem to believe.

Okay - but now you are arguing that before the season (I assume that is what you have to be doing since above you are talking in the past tense and including Smith - who was not part of Spanky's original statement) he might have been 4 on our depth chart whereas I was responding to someone saying that as of RIGHT NOW he would be fourth - you are arguing two very different things. As of right now - it's ridiculous to say that Rudi Johnson wouldn't make our team - we can keep arguing about this and you can keep changing the issue if you want - it doesn't change the fact that the statement Spanky made was biased by homersim.

We need to eliminate him from getting yards, just like we did TO. Last weeks game plan should work vs. this team, but I still think the Bengals look like the better team.

Is Warrick still doing any special teams?
