The Cincinnati Bengals took a conservative approach to the offensive line this offseason compared to what outsiders thought they needed to do.

That's especially the case at guard, but they do continue to meet with notable draft prospects there before next week's big event.

The latest comes from ESPN's Adam Schefter, who reports the Bengals will meet with Miami (OH) guard Jalen Rivers before the draft.

Rivers, a massive 6'6" and 319-pound prospect, is often listed as a mid-round player who has the upside to develop into a starter over time.

Bleacher Report's scouting report added this: "If his injury history checks out he will be able to compete for a starting role right away at guard in a downhill run scheme with the ability to play tackle in a pinch."

The Bengals didn't go after a starter-caliber player at guard in free agency, though they might view new addition Lucas Patrick higher than outsiders do. Otherwise, they re-upped with Cody Ford, which will let him compete with other names like Cordell Volson and Jaxson Kirkland.

With Rivers, it sounds like that positional versatility the Bengals value so much could come into play on draft day, too.
