The Cincinnati Bengals feel like a team mostly done in NFL free agency, especially as they attempt to wrap up the Trey Hendrickson contract drama.

But that doesn't mean the Bengalsshould be done in NFL free agency, especially at this stage when low-cost buys could have a big impact on the field.

No greater example of this at a position of need for the Bengals exists than offensive guard Brandon Scherff.

In free-agent rankings from ESPN's Matt Bowen, Scherff still slots in the top 10 left on the open market:

"Scherff's game should age gracefully given his movement skills and the ability to displace defenders at the point of attack. The 2015 top-five pick had a pass block win rate of 93.8% last year, which ranked 14th among guards and was the second highest of his 10 NFL seasons. Scherff can help a team in a need of a quality starter on the interior."

The Bengals love pass-blocking prowess from their guards and Scherff fits the bill, should he want to keep playing at all. If he's looking to contend as his career winds down, he could do much, much worse than block for Joe Burrow, too.

From a Bengals perspective, the recent signing of Lucas Patrick could be more of a move to increase versatile depth, not necessarily start him. It's the same story for the return of Cody Ford, too.

Scherff would arrive as an unquestioned starter at one of the guard spots, which is pretty hard to complain about at this stage of free agency. Given that, it's hard to imagine the Bengals haven't talked about him, if not talked with him, too.
