What to you was the best decade of music, and why?

Personally, the best decade of music to me was the 60s because several legends (revolutionaries) were born during that era...along with the fact that all the genres during that period were impressive.....

This isn't fair. Punk started in the '70s but so did disco. :(

I voted for the seventies. But if there was a poll for the worst decade I might vote for the seventies as well.

Can you tell who I voted for for president?

They

all progressively led to each other and then evolved into better forms. Hard for me to say which I'd choose. Heck if you listen to some of the background guitar licks on some late 50's early to mid 60's bands, those session guys were as good as anyone around. So, you got me!

Nope, not old enough to vote in the seventies/early eighties. Another hint, I was for the seventies before I was against the seventies.

John Kerry because you "flip-flopped"? ;)

Yeah...I must admit that it is a very complex question since I enjoy music from all those eras, however, the "soft-rock" (bands like Captain & Tenile, The Carpenters, Dan Fogelberg, etc) and Disco tarnished the 70s....The 90s got destroyed by the "Boy Band" Craze...... The 80s suffered some when most of the "Hair Bands" began to sound the same....

Just think of the bands that emerged in the 60s....Folk, The British Invasion, those who surfaced during the Psychadelic movement, Soul, and Motown...etc....

If there was a "weak spell" in the 60s, it would have been the first couple years after "the Day the Music Died", however, the industry rebounded resoundingly after that....

Methinks the best decade were the 80's because music jumped from the radio to the MTV level....

Well, that's one reason I suppose.

Most of the good classic-rock bands started in the late 60s and carried over into the 70s.

This was my first thought when I saw this poll.

This era gave us music that was made by people who did not give so much consideration for whether or not it would make a radio station play list.

I graduated high school in 1985 so I have to go with the 80's. I love 80's music. We listened to a lot of U2, The Police, Billy Idol, Duran Duran, Stray Cats, The Cars etc. Great stuff!

I think the years 1979 to 1986 were the best. :)

This next generation will put out some good shiz. They are called the Mellinials. I watched this awesome speaker talk about the cycles of generations- his name is Neil Howe- anyways, he feels that our future John Waynes and Ronald Reagans will come out off the kids who are in their teens right now.
