The San Francisco 49ers on Wednesday held their local Pro Day at Levi's Stadium with NFL draft prospects from schools in the Bay Area.
Perhaps the most notable player in attendance was Stanford wide receiver Elic Ayomanor, but he chose not to work out at the event. Instead, he spent part of his time at the facility watching the workouts with 49ers general manager John Lynch according to reporters in attendance. Several videos of Ayomanor and Lynch talking appeared on social media.
That conversation may have given the 49ers more information than anything they could have gathered from another on-field workout from Ayomanor. He worked out at his Pro Day at Stanford.
Instead of watching the WR exercise again, at least one of the club's top decisionmakers got some one-on-one time with him. Ayomanor is ranked 90th on the Athletic's Dane Brugler's top 100. He's projected as a third-round pick, which seems to be a good range for San Francisco to find help for their WR room. Ayomanor has good size at 6-1, 206 pounds. He also posted an impressive 4.44 40-yard dash to dispel some of the quibbles with his overall athleticism.
He posted 62 catches for 1,013 yards and six touchdowns as a redshirt freshman in 2013. Last season he backed that up with 831 yards and six touchdowns on 63 receptions.
Ayomanor may not have worked out at the 49ers' local Pro Day, but he still had an opportunity to make an impression to help bolster his already strong pre-draft resume.
