This red x was a Baretta poster.

"Keep your IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII on the sparrow."

I don't know what that means, and I don't care.

Sammy Davis, Jr. could have sing the bloomin' phone book and he'd have put most singers to total and utter shame.

Frank, Dean, Bobby Darin, and Tony Bennet being the exceptions.

A different kind of singer but I don't know how Roy Orbison gets left off of any great singers list. Even at 50 plus (Black and White Concert), he could still do with things with his voice that other artists only dreamed about in their prime. If you open it up to females, Timi Yuro is the first name I'd add to that list.

I was including a certain "cool" factor. Personally, I'd put Roy Orbison on the list for his shades and "Pretty Woman" alone. Good catch.

I love Celine's voice. But she's not on my own, personal cool list.

Bobby Darin singing "Mack the Knife" is possibly the coolest song ever.

Eliminate the word "possibly" and you are absolutely, without a doubt, 100% correct.

Wait. It's Friday and I'm feeling generous: You just won "Best Single Post Ever in the History of A$FN in the Esteemed Opinion of DemsMyBoys".

Congratulations.

How did this become a discussion about the Rat Pack? You can leave me out of that. I have no use for any of them, can't stand their music, hate that whole era of film they did.

Don't know if this has been posted but one of my favorites is a paradox.

True Blood(Do Bad Things To You)-But it's the worst when it comes to opening montage.

Dare I ask why? And you don't like their music? Does that include Sinatra's catalog of work? (I'll grant you their films are nothing to write home about but still..)

I'm stunned because I think you are only the second person I've known who had "no use" for the Rat Pack. Outside of a friend who had a husband in the mob and hated Sinatra because he was Catholic. She kinda didn't like both institutions.

It just does nothing for more. I find their music overly-romanticized with the era, which is also overly-romanticized. People tend not to judge that music on what they're hearing, but the images they see in their head -- sentimentality. Memories of their mother or father. Whatever.

Actually, I'm a big Dean Martin fan but I've never had much interest in Frank. The only thing from him that I really like is his daughter Nancy (and I love Nancy - with or without the fairly recently departed Lee Hazelwood).

I've just heard and read too many stories of Frank's ego and pettiness. I also think his music is overrated. Not bad, mind you, but IMO he's not the "great" voice he's often portrayed as. He has a good voice but, at best, no better IMO than Sammy Davis Jr, Tony Bennett, Al Green, Frankie Vaughan, Brook Benton, Andy Williams, Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin, Frankie Laine, Ben E King, Jerry Butler, Roy Hamilton and so many others I could name.
