Since the Cards desperately need a RB, and you guys were talking about a few candidates last week I thought we could continue the debate after last weeks games.

I think the best option for the cards would be:

1) Cedric Benson - he looks the most NFL ready with the combo of size and speed.

2) Cadillac Williams - looked "ok" against tenessese, but I was more impressed with the other RB. he looked more explosive and illusive than williams... will have to wait and see.

3) Darren Sproles - He looked ok, but just doesnt seem like he will be an impact in the NFL. He looked quick, but not fast and strong, but will get injured once he takes a beating.

4) pederson from OKlahoma looks shifty, but he is years away...

Thoughts?

Cedric Benson gets my vote right now. Maybe somebody else will show that they are better by the end of the year.

Cedric Benson

the "other" RB at Auburn is Ronnie Brown. Kiper has him as the no. 1 RB for next year

Rolle is still my first choice as well but realistically speaking he may be gone when we draft. (Hopefully!)

Right now I am sticking With Ronnie Brown ("the other guy from Auburn") though I'd be interested to see how Cedric does against Oklahoma.

Teh young phenom from USC I think that even Tomlinson may be the greatest RB coming out of college. He may be a sophmore so wait for him...

EDIT: Reggie bush I think it is??

Cedric Benson......but he won't be available when we draft in round #2 and I believe we need to take a CB with our #1 pick

I'm guessing that we'll end up with the 17th pick overall with a record of 8-8. One of either Corey Webster, Marlin Jackson and Justin Miller (all CB's) will be available there.........as will Cedric Benson. The decision is what is more important , a CB or a RB. I cast my vote with a CB as our #1.

I seriously doubt seeing DG making a move for a DB in the first round, I see him being all about offense in the first

Not even I can put Sproles as the #2 back in the country.
Don't get me wrong, he's a playmaker and I want him, but no way is he at #3.
Adrian Peterson definately deserves a mention.

I am not saying that these are the top 4 in the country... These are the ones I got to see play this past weekend.

Would mean that we'd have too many Adrians on the team.......this won't do.

Benson has dedication question marks, Williams doesnt catch much of the the backfield....I think Anthony Davis is a DG type guy but he has troubles staying healthy.

Peterson won't be draft eligible so there's little point in bringing him up. Benson scares me although he is very talented. His idol is Ricky Williams, personal awards are more valuable than team accomplishments, he has a baseball career should he decide he doesn't want to go through the rigors of NFL football. If those aren't red flags I don't know what is. I've been jocking Marion Barber for awhile and he's playing a good Michigan run D this weekend so that should be interesting. The fact that Ed B likes him has me concerned though.

But RB/CB should not be the only positions we should be looking at. In a perfect world, Wendell/Pace would live up to their billing, Dexter would return back 100% healthy in '05, our revamped O-Line gels into a solid group, and McCown becoems what Denny thinks he is. Until those big ifs actually start happen, we shouldn't ignore the possibility of grabbing a DT, QB, O-lineman, etc.

That Benson would rather win a Heisman vesus a NCAA Championship is not a deal breaker for me. Winning the Heisman likely means that he'd be a top ten pick.......and that's worth dough to a guy who has not "exactly" lived a silver spoon life.

People remember Heisman Trophy winners......not whether or not you were on a NCAA Championship team.

Remember the new axiom........this is a business these days.

Let's be real, anything Benson does to enhance his Heisman chances is going to help the NC chances too because Texas is a running team. RB's can't really be selfish, the coach calls the play and QB hands him the ball.

Now if Vince Young were saying that yeah that would concern me since a QB could hurt his team by trying to hard to put up Heisman stats.

I'm probably taping the game, I figure OU runs Texas out but I do think it could be interesting. Peterson "dissed" Texas when he signed with OU so you just know their defense is going to be gunning for him. Basically he was asked why he was going to OU being from Palestine, Texas and he said " they keep beating Texas. And I want to win National Championships and you can't do that at a Texas school these days." I'm sure his press conference words are posted all over the Texas locker rooms these days.

There is no debate about it. Cadillac Williams is the best in the draft. :D

Seriously, after watching him devour the Tennessee defense the other night and watching how hard this kid runs on every single play he has earned my vote.

Hehas the proto typical size that most of the greats have 5'11 210lbs, he has good quickness and acceleration, good speed, good blocker, great attitude, great vision, and has the 'passion' for the game.

If you have not seen this kid run do your self a favor and watch. He will not go down and runs harder than just about any back I have seen, As one sportswriter said "He often wants it more than the defender" and it is very very true!

Weakness: Needs to get in the weight room some more as his legs are awfully skinny.

I thought he looked very good against Tennesee. Reggie Brown did too. I like Williams for one reason. Desire. The kid simply will not go down! He has great vision and acceleration. He doesnt catch much true but it doesnt mean his hands are bad just unsure...

I think he and Brown are head-and-shoulders above the rest right now.

Benson said he'd rather win the Heisman than beat OU, he said later in the same interview he'd rather win a National Championship than win the Heisman. Benson doesn't have any dedication question marks as far as I'm concerned, he quit playing baseball this year because he decided football was his passion and his best chance at being a successful professional athlete. Russ mentioned on another thread that he thinks Benson will be run down, but actually if you look back at the last 4 yrs alot of the Longhorn games have been blowout wins in which CB didn't play much in the second half. I don't recall any injury issues the last 4 years either.
