I'm fond of Disturbed's cover of Land of Confusion...

I also really like Korn's cover of Word Up.

In a van...down by the river.
Sting covering Hendrix "Little Wing" is interesting.
Chili Peppers covering Stevie Wonders "Higher Ground"
Eric Johnson covering B.B. King's "Rock me Baby"
---------------------------------------------
My old band's cover of Jefferson Airplane's "White Rabbit" was cool:p
We simply played thru it once at it's original tempo & flavor then went thru it again at double time w/an extra punch from the elec guitars.
Turned a 2 minute classic into a 3 minute rocker.

Best remakes? If an artists remake is better known than the original, that has the making of a great remake, not always, but most often.

Some of mine:

Well known...
All along the watchtower - Jimi Hendrix (Bob Dylan song)
Blinded by the Light - Manfred Man (Bruce Springsteen)
Black Magic Woman - Santana (Fleetwood Mac)
The Star Spangled Banner - Jimi Hendrix
Hurt - Johnny Cash (9 inch Nails)
You've Got a Friend - James Taylor (Carole King)
Killing Me Softly With His Song - Fugees (Roberta Flack)
Respect - Aretha Franklin (Otis Redding)
I shot the Sheriff - Eric Clapton (Bob Marley)
Tainted Love - Soft Cell (Gloria Jones)
Ain’t that a Shame - Cheap Trick (Fats Domino)

Others...

Sweet Jane - Cowboy Junkies (Lou eed)
In your eyes - Jeffery Gaines (Peter Gabriel)
Higher Ground - Red Hot Chili Peppers (Sevie Wonder)
Snowblind - System Of A Down (Back Sabbath)
Have a Cigar - Primus (Pink Floyd)
The Metro - System Of A Down (Berlin)
Comfortably Numb - Scissor Sisters (Pink Floyd)

I love these two:

I was looking online for Peter Frampton's "Baby I Love Your Ways" and came across a remake (raggae version) by Big Mountain. Totally love it!

Some of the greatest worst remakes of all time? Songs that arent worthy of a remake cause they suck so bad in the first place? Dont get me wring, I love these songs, but I only love them for the terribleness. They make me laugh they are so shlocky and corny, and fior that, I love them.

Yet still, someone thought them worthy of remakes. Bad dance track remakes, to boot.

I give you:
DJ Sammy remaking Heaven by Bryan Adams
Judy Torres remaking Faithfully by Journey.

Holy cow. What crap!

First, if you would like to hear any of these songs, just click on the jukebox.

I really love the premise of this thread. I attended three years of high school in England back in the '60's, so I love Bristish invasion and classic rock. I am giving a half dozen songs that I think you will definately hear the added guitar to the original. I hope some of you might enjoy these:

(click on Jukebox to hear songs)

Train Kept A Rollin'-Aerosmith-cover of a Tiny Bradshaw song
Chain Of Fools-Little Caeser-cover of Aretha Franklins song
I'm Losing You-Schenker-Pattison, Summit-cover of the Temptations song
Waterloo Sunset-Def Leppard-cover of the Kinks song
Crossroads-Cream-cover of the Robert Johnson song
American Woman-Lenny Kravidtz-cover of the Guess Who song
