So, let me get this right...

Emeka Okafor
Luol Deng
Ben Gordon
Andre Iguodola

will all hit FA next year? That's along with possibly Gilbert Arenas, Jermaine O'Neal, Corey Magette, Elton Brand, Shawn Marion?

Man, if that's true and Marion opts out, he's an absolute idiot - every one of those players (except Magette) will command more dollars than he will.

Damn, the first thing I thought about was the '04 draft.

Cheese, you were a bigger defender of Bryan Colangelo than me, but even you have to admit that was an inexcusably stupid handling of a draft by B.C.

Trading a number 7 pick before it is your turn to pick, because you THINK the player you want (iggy) won't be there. How about just waiting 15 minutes to see if he is there? And then decide whether to trade. Add to that he apparently wasn't too high on deng...

Thanks. I was perfectly happy never hearing about that again. :)

if marion opts out,

is there any FA on that list that would like to join the suns?

we still won't have cap room if Marion opts out, at least not enough to get one of those guys.

S&ts&ts&t!

yeah, keep dreaming.

out of this list here...

Iggy/Deng/Okafor are out of the question completely

Gordon has no use on the suns, so that leaves the UFA's

Indy has Granger
Washington has Butler
LA has Thorton

IMO the only realistic possibility would be Brand and that's only if Thorton can play PF, or Marion plays PF for the clips.

I wasnt necessarily referring to a S&T with other RFAs, but getting marion to sign with one of the teams that would give him a fat extension in return for some solid younger role players.

I do think a marion for brand swap would put us over the top next season though

Someone explain to me about Marion's contract. Is the one year option his option, or the team's option. If it is his option, how can we sign and trade if he has opted out?

It's his option and he becomes a free agent by opting out. There is no sign and trade if a player isn't a free agent, just a trade.

Signing an extension would be the S part of the S&T. If Marion can get an extension from a team he wants to go to without having to opt out it would be better for him and the team.

BC also said they weren't interested in Deng. Said they didn't think he would be successful at the next level.
