Mitch, the impact of Keim can't be overstated... However, I believe that the bigger impact is the role Mike Bidwill plays in all of this. Clearly, he allows Keim and BA to do what needs to be done with nothing but complete support and buy-in. They are a perfect team in and of themselves...
I sort of disagree with this. Don't get me wrong I am grateful for the way that MB has been running this franchise, but he is simply doing what any owner should do and that's appoint someone you trust to make personnel decisions (BASK in this case) and then get out of their way. It is however nice to have an owner that is simply willing to do his job as we haven't always had that.

He is being mentioned for Defensive Player of the Year. That says superstar to me. The Board comments are undercutting what he will be paid, just like with Bethel.

First, let me get clear, I love the signing. Bethel has been my avatar for awhile. But take look at the last Bethel thread. 3/$10M total was discussed. Just not going to cut it. I said 4/$22M could be the asking price, and that wasn't far off.
Agree on him currently being a superstar and was a little confused by the comment earlier that suggested he wasn't one already.

As for the contract numbers I get the feeling a lot of people are over looking the rising salary cap and what that will do to the "market value" of these players. Guys that were getting say 4 year 32 mil contracts two years ago are now likely to see something closer to 4 years and 40-44 mil on the same exact production and skill level.

The fact that two of our star players gave MB the "Gatorade" bath would suggest that MB is doing more than staying out of the way. I agree he let's BASK run the show but MB gives them everything they need to be successful.

You are understating what MB has done for this organization. I've been a fan for over 40 years and how poorly Bowtie ran this team is quite frankly tragic. MB is doing the exact opposite.

Well said.

MB is smart enough to recognize things, ask questions, take advice, and help in whatever way he can. He wants to win. The setup of the NFL, plus the stadium allows us to compete with any team.

He may sound like a car salesmen, but those guys can get the job done, and he isn't hocking a Pinto here. At this point with what we have built, his style can be a plus. Throw in a little Arians and Keim, and we got something going here for the foreseeable future.

Love what he's done. We're 10-2, looking strong, players love it here, and we might just be able to keep this thing rolling at a medium-high level for decades to come.

On the flip side, Jed York, the nephew of DeBartolo looks like he could be the metaphorical son of BB. Contrast the momentum that Michael built with our new stadium to the complete deflation of the franchise Jed got with theirs... as they sat on the profits of their new stadium and played incompetent god.

Back to the OP, after just one game Bethel looks like he will more than justify the $ he is receiving. He lead the team today in Passes Defended with 2.

Yes his ball awareness needs to improve but that should happen with the more experience he gets.

Jefferson is just guy in a secondary which is vertically challenged. I think he is gone.

We need youth and length in this secondary. If Bucannon stays at LB, we are super thin.

Seems to me like Buc20 played some safety snaps today? Or at least more coverage than he normally does.

H showed up in coverage more, and did ok which was nice to see. I thought he was playing out of the LB spot however.

We will see how well he does as the starter the rest of the year. If he does better than Powers and remains the starter it's a fair contract. If not than he's overpaid. What he got is starters money.
