IOU lunch this happens no effing way!!!!! Mark it down!!!
The stars are in a perfect alignment for a trade.

1. We've dealt with them before.
2. Kiem knows NE of course.
3. Bellycheck hates Cleveland so no deal there.
4. Jimmy G won't want to go to Cleveland.
5. We need a QB.
6. NE would love the #45 pick.

Something I can feel it. Kiem's not sitting on his hands I bet he's been on the Phone to New England and it isn't for Butler.

Except Cleveland is supposedly offering much more than the #45 pick. It's a business, if you can fleece Cleveland for multiple picks...isn't that in the best interest of the Patriots?

2 bad contracts initially negotiated by Keim and Disner that they had to get out from under. I think that $4.5M is probably 30% too much for a Pro Bowl special teamer.

I don't know about 'bad' - you mentioned initially that it was a basically one year contract to see if he could transition to CB full time to earn the higher salary. He didn't and instead of cutting him loose - we actually get an extra year with him at a reasonable salary.

Has JG proven he's worth the king's ransom that the Patriots are asking for?

Bethel is a nice player, and, given his reasonable contract, tradeable

i just dont see him being the centerpiece to some deal. A very good special teams player, questionable defensive starter, and free agent in a year.

Good!

Keim made a major mistake paying him like a solid CB without much tape on him playing that position in the NFL. Plain stupid:bang:

Tapatalk never seems to show me embedded tweets on my phone. It just says "unsupported video".

This is a great move by the Cards. Bethel was a non-factor last year at CB & didn't make the same impact on special teams either. He's still a solid gunner, but I don't remember him blocking any FGs or downing too many punts inside the 5 yd line like he used to... probably because he's being double teamed & held when he's a gunner.

Nobody is saying that. They're saying 'hmm, we're manufacturing cap space but not signing anyone', and wondering why.

Was going to say the same thing, they essentially helped put out 2 fires they started themselves.

I'm glad they did it and I'm glad Bethel did it, if he has a great year he'll get paid next year, if not he won't. But he might have been released if he insisted on sticking with the current contract.

Was a mistake originally but at least they have corrected it.

Have to think it's extremely rare for 1, let alone 2 players to take straight pay cuts when they weren't obligated to. Let alone 50% pay cuts.

Just imagine if Palmer and Fitz were also willing to take 1-2 million off. Being team leaders and all....
